Missing Styles from CVP-709
« on: January 17, 2020, 03:41:47 PM »
Building on this project from Rikkisbears, I'm looking for styles unique to the CVP-709 that aren't on Genos, T5 or any PSR. So far I come up with:
  • 70's Swing Piano
    80's American Pop
    West Coast Beat
    Saloon Piano
    Piano R&R
    Easy8Beat2
    Mod 6-8 Piano Bld
    Mor 16 Beat
    70's Country Swing
    Slow Country Pop
    Country Pop Ballad
    Piano Blues1
    Piano Blues2
    The Blues
    Musical
    Standard Rumba
    Elec Organ Ballad

I'm sure there are more.

Sorry I cannot upload the zipfile, not allowed such attacementes here.
I've found most, but there are some I cannot find in the CVP709 folders:

80's American Pop
West Coast Beat
Easy8Beat2
70's Country Swing
Slow Country Pop

Could you check if that should be in the 709 collection, if so, the one I have is not complete...... 🤔

Just past your email in prv message, and I'll send both the complete pack and the ones copied out of it. :)
Cheers 🥂
GJ

I'm updating the list to remove piano styles and a freeplay style that is already in our collection:

70's Swing Piano
80's American Pop
West Coast Beat
Saloon Piano
Piano R&R
Easy8Beat2
Mod 6-8 Piano Bld
Mor 16 Beat
70's Country Swing
Slow Country Pop
Country Pop Ballad
The Blues
Standard Rumba

I'm sure there are more.

There are about 12 other styles, but I added them to the collection I was building with Rikkisbears. I'll post an update soon. There's 80s Synth Pop, Country Pop Ballad, Cartoon Ballad, and a bunch of others. They sound great on the SX900 - there are no missing voices on the styles, but a lot of missing OTS voices. I get the feeling that the styles are optimized to the additional DSP's that might be available in the CVP-709.

I would love to get just those styles...as the CVP ones seem to be a little less busy...

A good Samaritan on the forum sent me his CVP-709 styles, but it looks like I don't have all that are on the data list. I just updated my above post of what is missing. If anyone has these, that would be great. Then I'll create a zip and share them privately.

Larry:

I checked the work I did when adding the CVP709 to YRM.  There are 30 audio styles on that keyboard, and the one's you don't have happen to be the audio styles.

Thanks. We'll forget about those until Yamaha makes them available or an expert steps in.

Hi Beaky,
For  instance, I have a slow and a fast Bossa in my collection, BUT, really no way of telling whether they’re the same as on cvp ( but with audio, by the sound of things)  without checking both.

When I was sorting thru those 4000 to 5000 styles,  I noticed  that, not only did yamaha change the category of some of the styles ie they might move  a world to an entertainer, the odd Latin got moved around too, (which complicated things a bit) but, on the odd one , they even changed the name.

Ie on one keyboard it might be 8 beat 1. On another it might be 8 beat 2.

(Love to have a copy when you finish.)
Best wishes

The Audio files that were on Tyros five are available to download from the Genos download site and I imagine they were the same on the 709.

These styles are on the CVP-709 list, but they're not among the files that my friend sent me, and they're not on Genos or Tyros 5:

70s Country Swing
80's American Pop
Easy 8Beat2
Slow Country Pop
West Coast Beat
70s Cool Shuffle
Rumba Bolero
70s Piano Hit
Swing Medium
Vintage R&R
Easy Waltz
Samba Fast
Bossa Fast
Bossa Slow

The CVP-709 has 30 audio styles. I have a feeling that some in the above list are not audio styles, and the styles I received from my buddy on the forum is slightly incomplete. On the other hand, as these styles aren't anywhere around this site, maybe they are audio styles. If anyone else has CVP-709 styles, I'd appreciate it! Especially Vintage R&R. That sounds like a good one for seniors I perform for.

I checked these against my list of audio styles, and they are all on it.  That's why you can't find them.

Some audio styles can be found on other keyboards in a normal sty. or prs. version. But they may not have the same name, so looking for them is a detective's work!

You are right Toryl,
Quite a few of the genos styles are in fact the old Audio styles reworked to now use Revo Drums which I think are better especially when recording in Midi.

The CVP-709 has Slow Bossa and Fast Bossa - which other Yamaha keyboards have, but then they have Bossa Slow and Bossa Fast. The latter two are probably distinct styles.

As Yamaha seems to be moving away from Audio Styles, hopefully the CVP-809 will have these styles in regular format, and hopefully there won't be other snafus with getting a lower model of keyboard to play a higher model's styles. I'm pretty sure that in the next year, someone will get a hold of these.
