Changing instrument on a multi pad phrase
« on: January 07, 2020, 06:59:16 PM »
Hi,

Even though I had the Genos for 8 months, I just started to explore the multi pads and have a question.

Is there an easy way to change instrument on a multi pad phrase?
I looked in the manual, but couldn't find any relative information about that there and neither can I find this function in the mixer or in multi pad creator.

The only way I can get it to work is to first record the phrase as midi and then change instrument in the mixer.
I'm sure there is an easier way. Or?

Thanks
/Jugge

Edit. In step edit there seams to be possible to change sound by changing the program number, but it only goes from 1-128 so I am not sure this is the right way?

Hey Jugge,

in my opinion this is the easiest way.

Yes this is easily done in Multi pad recorder Step Edit by selecting the voice you want to use and then deleting the old one. Then save it as a user M.P.

So you have to add (with copy paste) and change 3 rows of numbers to get a new voice for a pad or a style part:

Ctrl MSB
Ctrl LSB
Prog

Is that correct?

Hi Panos
All you do is tab to where the present voice is and then just select the new voice you want to use just as you would if you were going to play it. This will insert the information required. Then just delete the old voice so that it dose not get picked up any where. While you are on this track you can also alter panning add reverb and effects and adjust volume. When you have it as you want then just save it.
I also use this method to change voices in my midi recorded tracks. Always works fine.

Hi Panos,

Yes, this is correct. I did all those steps before, except I missed that the control change messages where filtered out in step record by default.

The video that Manfred posted, put me in the right direction, even do I don't understand a word of German  ;D

Another question. Since those multi pads are just midi loops, can we  save them as .mid and import them to an external sequencer like Cubase?

Thanks

Have never used Copy' Copy here' for any voice changes I have made. Just go to the track I want to change and select the new voice. Has always worked for me.
