New Yamaha localised Keyboard ?
« on: December 18, 2019, 11:58:51 PM »
When was the Yamaha PSR I400 launched ! I cannot remember. The cabinet exactly looks like the replica of E 4xx series keyboards.. Looking forward to find its authenticity in the market amongst existing I500.

The PSR-I400 looks like an updated version of the PSR-I455, in that it has the same polyphony, lack of DSP effects, and the same layout of the panel controls, similar to the layout of the PSR-E443's panel controls.

The PSR-I500 looks more like a localized Indian version of the PSR-E463, in that it has the same (slightly) expanded polyphony, addition of DSP effects, and the newer layout of the panel controls that first appeared on the PSR-E453.

Those specs also make it look very similar to the PSR-E433 -- Especially with the re-introduction of Ultrawide Stereo and the re-addition of more built-in songs, the removal of AUX-IN and anything that appears related to hooking up an external audio source (a key difference between the E433 and E443), and the built-in memory of 1.54MB, which is identical to the E433.

I wonder if they brought back the E433's keybed?  AnupamEnosh, if you get your hands on one of these buggers, let us know!

Current: Yamaha PSR-E433 (x2), Roland GAIA SH-01, Casio CDP-200R, Casio MT-68 (wired to bass pedals)
Past: Yamaha PSR-520, PSR-510, PSR-500, DX-7, D-80 home organ, and a few Casios

Sir Bob,
It is very unlikely that yamaha will re-introduce such keys in that price segment. This year I got the chance to visit a lot of stores where both I455 and I500 were available, brand new piece. And keys were exact similar, no difference. So I don't think I400 will bring some new changes as it already looks like a tuned down version of I500, or the successor to I425. Still I would try it out in stores, though I believe it won't be coming to my city before second quarter of 2020..
Sir Michael,
I believe, with this introduction Yamaha is re enforcing localised keyboards in Indian market, and might cut short, or stop the sale of global models like E463, EW410. After I400, the EW4xx or its successor might won't be seen in India, as its demand is already very meagre.
One important thing to note, the price difference between these two keyboards (I400 and I500) is of approx 70$, so already Yamaha has launched similar keyboards in a similar price bracket.

Yamaha had never launched E443 and EW400, in India.. at that time, I425 & I455 were selling like pancakes.. same period will be repeated I assume.. the unusual Ash White livery of I455 and I425, with model branding on the front, attracted many.. although these newer dark cabinets look elegant, people still love I455..
