Genos and Neo Leslie Simulator.
« on: January 01, 2020, 01:57:15 AM »
I hav e a Neo Instruments Leslie Simulator.  Can I loop it to the Genos and use it for the organ instruments so that it will not have any effect on the style section / Multipad section etc?
Reason is, I am not sold on the Real Rotary effect in the Genos,

Good question. I too would like to invest in a Lester G for the organ effects. The Hammond organs on the Genos are sketchy at best - as is the vocal harmonizer - but that's another topic.

I would choose the Lester G (G is for guitar) instead of the Lester K (K is for keyboard) because, with the Lester G, you can vary the rate at which the Leslie engages. I don't know why they wouldn't put that feature in the Lester K instead of the Lester G???

It should be possbile to send the organ to the separeate sub outs.
The Lester has no support for a foot switch or a half moon switch but you would have to modify it yourself. In that sence the Ventilator is better.

Yes, you absolutely can, and should! :)

I have the Electro Harmonix Lester K, and I love the HECK out of it. It really unleashes the hidden beast in the Organ Flutes drawbars.

If you have a Neo Vent plug that baby in!

The Reference Manual acutually doesn't list what can be sent to the subs. It only shows a picture of the first page. So you will have to check it yourself.
"Only the Insertion Effect and Vocal Harmony effects can be applied to the sound output from the SUB jacks. The
System Effect (Chorus, Reverb, and when the Variation Effect is set to “System”) will not be applied."

But I would guess that is how KeyboardByBiggs does it?

I did that and it works just fine. Downside is the number of extra cables that amass with this setup. I'm going to try a different approach this year with a complete Hammond B3 replacement using the newly released B3X iPad app. Since I'm already using an iPad with Songbook+ it should be easy.  We'll see.

Great input folks, I will try it with the Ventilator.
Speaking of Hammond app for iPad, I have the Galileo organ app which is quite nice and a bit cheaper then the
Hammond B3X. Although the B3X should be much nicer.

Yes, I believe that's true. Nothing that you can replicate with insertion effects though.

I had custom cables made with right-angle ends so everything tucks in as much as possible. Not too bad at all.

I had a Nord Electro 5D. The organs were very good, except that they always had about 10 percent drive on them. You could never turn it off and achieve a pure B3 sound like the originals. There were a ton of complaints about this. With the Electro 4D, you could turn the drive all the way off. Once again, some engineer gave us something we didn't want all while thinking that the 5D was a wonderful improvement. Engineers need to learn to just leave things alone!!

I wouldn't be surprised. There were a lot of complaints. I ended up trading my 5D and T5 for the Genos. It's nice to only carry one piano now :).

Soryt  Soneg;
I watched your video with the Genos and the Leslie K .
Can you tell me how you routed that through the Genos or is this a stand alone Leslie/Hammond simulator?
thanks,

Frank

at first i set the output for Right 3 ( in Line out menu) on Sub1L and Sub2R , these outputs of these goes into the LesteR inputs and  from the lester Outputs (L&R) to  the Aux in (L&R) of the Genos
and replace the Rotary effect for a reverb effect at youre taste ( i use acoustic room).
in the Mixer page you can adjust the balance with the Aux in slider on the display .
I hope this helps .
