Hi Genos users and fellows,
I today updated my Genos to the version OS 2.01 and no Playlist which ran on 2.0 won't work anymore.
I got 3 calls tonight where other Genos-users stated the same.

My recommendation:
DON'T UPDATE TO OS 2.01, otherwise your playlist can not be opended anymore.
A downgrade from 2.01 to 2.00 will not make the playlist function work either.
Be careful with updating to 2.01 !!!!

One of my playlists, the SuperiorPack one, is not working after update, others loads as usual.
Strange  :o

Not strange at all, Jonny. I think there are so many different ways that Genos users have their keyboards configured that Yamaha can't anticipate all scenarios. Hence, we end up with those who say, "It's so easy and seamless. I just love what they've done to the operating system" to those who say, "My Genos is completely changed. This and that are gone, and I have a major gig tomorrow!!?? I'm in big trouble!!!"

I'm still using 1.3 and am dealing with enough issues trying to tame the mega bass voices through an antiquated registration editing method - never mind dealing with endless nightmares thanks to a free but unpredictable upgrade of the OS :(. I don't blame Yamaha per se, but she is what she is!!

Got it sorted out. 👍
For a reason or another all the files in the original folder was gone. Folder was empty, so why they disapeared is the big question.
Had to transfer the missing files back into the folder, and then it finally work as it should. Also the settings for my 3 pedals was set back to factory default, so just as when update to 2.0, it had to be edited to my preferred settings again.

Well, it could have been worse ..... time will tell if it's other issues that I've not detected yet.  8)

Cheers 🥂

Hi Guys

I upgraded  to 2.01 with no issues. I backed up, but didn’t need to as nothing got wiped out with the upgrade.

Thanks to all answewring on my subject !!!!
I solved the problem, no bug with Genos 2.01.
For what ever reason, the directory folder's name had a blank as the last letter, this caused the trouble.
Merry Christmas to all of you,

My back-up plan was to have a back-up. Worked for me with just a minor inconvenience. I certainly hope you can retrieve your lost stuff, that type of thing really hurts when you stop the think of the effort you put into it.  Happy holidays, everyone knows what you'll be doing. Don in MI

Hello Mark,
erasing a blank:
I click on the folder, say "Playlist", with my Windows Explorer, using "Rename" (it showed "Playlist ").
The whole name (when hitting the folder name button) changes to blue/white and this moment I realized the blue background was a bit to much at the right.
I position the cursor at this position and use the Backspace (<---) abaove the return button to get rid off the blank, taht's it.

@Klaus
as mentioned on phone.
There ist no playlist problem in the 2.01

The important thing  of the update e 2.01 is that the user defined settings from the older versions caused problems in the 2.0 so in the 2.01 these problems are solved - no T9/11 anymore! :-)

Only one playlist thing is not solved... people using direct install of the  Superior pack as a CPI , ant not using the YEM and the cpf. can't use the superior playlists because of a wrong folder name :-)

Just  check the Expansions naming ....

YEM Installed:
Expansion:/GenosV2.0 SuperiorPack/
Playlist works

Direct installed:
Expansion:/GenosV2_Superior/
Playlist doesn't work

Good evening all, it was a good day today - as I got my Genos delivered. As I am new to Genos and this impressive forum (thank you for having me!) the hope is, that somebody may be able to help this greenhorn. The Genos is unpacked and running nicely on OS 1.10. No modifications, tuning or adding of Midi-files have been done so far on the instrument. Latest software level should now be 2.01. My question:
A) Should I wait with upgrading to 2.01 until all bugs have been cleared up?
B) Reading the caveat on the instruction pdf:

Notice to users of the firmware V1.41 and earlier versions.]

After you’ve updated the firmware to this version, the System, MIDI, User Effect, and Registration data are initialized the first time you start up again.

Save the MIDI Setup File and User Effect Setup file before updating, and load after updating.
Save Registrations to the file before updating.
Even if you save the System Setup file before updating, it cannot be loaded after updating.
If you save the Backup data before updating and restore it after updating, the System, MIDI, User Effect and Registration data will not be restored.

I am unsure what to do really, do I need to back-up anything? Or just run the update, as I have not changed anything from the original settings.

Your feedback will be highly appreciated!
Marcel

Marcel,

OS 2 resets everything to factory settings, which is what you currently have. So you can update to 2.01 without any worries. And I would do it now.

....Only one playlist thing is not solved... people using direct install of the  Superior pack as a CPI , ant not using the YEM and the cpf. can't use the superior playlists because of a wrong folder name...

I always use YEM to install packs, and everything did work just great, but after update from v2.0 to v2.01 the SupPack playlist would not work. The other playlists was fine and OK.
The folder where the SupPack playlist regfiles are stored was at the very same USB as always, (permanent USB at bottom), but somehow the content in the folder was disapeared. Copied new content from PC into the very same folder by use of Musicsoft Downloader, and reloaded the playlist, then everytyhing works well again.
Also the update did reset the pedal/footswitch settings back to factory setup.
Not explored any other issues so far.

The update process itself went very smooth and quick, no errormessages. 😊
Cheers 🥂
