MIDI input port 2 is missing
« on: November 10, 2019, 10:37:29 AM »
Hi,

Just got a strange issue with the Genos MIDI input ports. When opening Cubase today, it complained about missing MIDI inputs
and in the midi setup menu, I saw that the second midi in port was gone.

I then started the Yamaha USB driver application and I saw the same thing there, only one input port, but two output ports.

I have tried reinstalling the driver and also did a system reset on Genos, but without any luck.

Anyone else experienced this? Added a couple of pictures from the USB driver app and from Cubase midi setup.

Thanks
/Jugge

Via USB port you have 2 midi ports from PC to Genos, but only one from Genos to PC.
This means 2 output ports and only 1 input port.
See page 138 from the Genos reference manual.

The picture from the USB drive you show is the same as it is on my system. It has never been otherwise.

Etienne

Hi Jugge,

yes, as already mentioned by Etienne: Not a Genos INPUT Port is missing there, but a Genos OUTPUT Port. ;)

But this is absolutely NORMAL: Via USB-MIDI you have only one OUTPUT Port (namely Transmit Port 1) but two INPUT Ports (Receive Port 1 & 2). This is the case on ALL Yamaha Keyboards.

In other words: Port 2 Transmit is basically NOT available via USB-MIDI, but only via DIN MIDI (MIDI B OUT).

Please refer to the picture "MIDI transmission/reception via the USB terminal, Wireless LAN, and MIDI terminals" in Genos Reference Manual, page 138.

Best regards,
Chris

I may have a newer version (2.10) of the Genos1 reference manual. There is no diagram on page 138. Can anyone point me to where that diagram is in this version of the manual?

Thanks…

Hi Michael,

In Genos1 Reference Manual "h0" V2.10 this diagram is on page 146. See also the attached screenshot.

Thanks, Chris.

That same diagram appears on page 153 of the Genos2 Reference Manual. It was easy to find, once I knew what I was looking for.
