Can you freeze the LEFT part while using the one touch settings on the SX900?

Yes, the left voice is regarded by the keyboard as part of the style group, so turn on freeze and ensure Style is ticked in the freeze setup page. To get to setup one way is press Direct Access followed by the freeze button.

The problem is that when you freeze the style part, and you select another song from the PLAYLIST, the style doesn't change!! This isn't the case on a keyboard using the MUSICFINDER.

If you are selecting styles manually, freezing can be used, but yes, the way Yamaha chooses to group left voice and a number of other properties with the style can be very restrictive sometimes. But they continue to keep with their old conventions in their latest keyboards in spite of it.
Creating registrations (eg. using voice setups taken from OTS's) to switch voices and styles during playing would give you more flexibility if you consider the extra work needed would be worthwhile.
