It's a shame Yamaha canned it's Modular Synthesis Plug-In System. It would be great to install these boards in an arranger keyboard to add the VL, AN and FM synthesizers, or new drum kits... or just more polyphony (add additional 128 notes). I would think that Yamaha could design a generic (memory) plug-in card that we could load more expansion packs.

They should be recreating that in software.. there allready is an ipad FM app..
A good host with support for AUv3.. and the yamaha synth engines..
And then implementing them in the same way as the yammex..
Audio over usb would be perfect for a solution like this

Dexed is a free get that runs on the cheapest laptops.it would not be difficult or expensive to add something to genos to run vst. Imagine how good that would be!

The problem I see with that is there is a limit to the hardware memory.  Where as adding hardware cards would expand the capability or capacity of the keyboard existing hardware.

I guess the other option is creating a keyboard with really HUGE memory; then they could offer soft-synths as add-ons.  Even if we had to pay for those soft synths it would be worth it.

How about adding a Breath Controller input as well like on the DX7 and VL keyboards and sound module.

Every investment in hardware is a costdriver which could rocket the price into the sky..
Memmory espescially huge amounts, is allready themost expensive part of these keyboards..
And i don’t expect any huge steps or pricedrops any time soon..
