Are psrs950 styles available for download?
« on: September 30, 2019, 03:33:53 AM »
Hi, not totally familiar with the site yet, wondering if the psr s950 factory styles are available for download.
Just received my sx900, so will be selling the s950, don’t want to do it till I get a copy of all the styles, if not i’ll just do it myself.
I’m aware there’s probably heaps of double ups , but I’ve always kept copies from my keyboards.
Best wishes

Yes they are all posted on the S950 Yamaha style page here:

https://www.psrtutorial.com/sty/yamaha/psr-s950.html

Then click on the words ... Ballroom, Ballad, Country .. etc. to download each of the categories.

You can also copy everything yourself from the 950 onto an USB stick.

Best to copy them direct from your 950 which are as supplied...the reason I have found a number of style downloads have often been altered.

Someone should make this a 'sticky' as sound advice:

ALWAYS copy ALL the factory styles from your keyboard before upgrading, as you'll find that even though the names may remain the same, intros, endings and even the style parts themselves may change.

Nothing worse than hitting that chord to start your well-practised tune and finding that the intro no longer fits! Or getting to the end and finding that the ending is now nothing like what you expected it to be. I have arrangements that require some of the styles from my old PSR2000. Revoiced and rebalanced, sure, but only those styles work!
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Hi Andy,
I found that with my korgs. Identical name, sometimes not even the same style let alone different intro’s endings.  And on other occasions they gave previous model styles a completely new name.
Hence  I usually try and save the styles, just in case.
