Hi, I found the keybed of the S770 / S975 very noisy and a little too light. The keybed of the SX has been considerably improved and has more resistance, makes less noise and the white keys between the black keys are also easy to play. I find it a very comfortable and pleasant keybed to play. The attack of the Genos is a bit sturdier and certainly also very comfortable. You can play that a little harder if you want. This is also necessary to operate the aftertouch.
My best regards,
Ton

Ton thanx for the reply.... I needed to hear it from someone who has a Sx900...
I understand what you mean as i have owned every previous Yamaha arranger also.
As a singer/player I hope to hear about the VH2 also...?

Thank you

I entirely agree with Ton. I would say that the keyboard is definitely better than the S975 and there is no sound from it at all.
A greatly improved experience all round no matter which PSR you have previously owned.

Hi DNJ, I only react because I have played the SX900 for 2 hours. The Genos and a S710 stood nearby (and I owned the Genos, the S770 and S975) so I took the opportunity to real feel the difference once again and that is just what I wrote. No theory, but experience ;) But other owners can/will confess what I wrote.  ;)

Thank you Ton,...I look forward to experiencing playing the SX900 myself as soon as it arrives with great excitement.
Knowing as much as possible beforehand eases the anxiety of the waiting period till it lands here in the USA.
The new display can be seen but the keys have to be played.....my only other concern being a power singer is
to see if VH2 has been improved at all as previous models were ok and usable but no where near the quality of TC Helicon units regarding vocal harmony tracking. Thank you again for all your info and input.

Welcome back, - Dnj
The Sx900 has everything but your have to "dig in" a little.
YEM is not difficult, plenty of tutorials out there,
‘Style magic’ is a good way to go if you want to copy, paste, delete style parts,
I’m an OTS player so moving style parts around is important to me,

GOOD LUCK

Pino.

I just went to store to test SX900. The Keybed is definetly better than 970. The sound is pretty darn good...in general much better than 970 (they had one of those in store too). I would like a better Grand Piano for concert Piano, but other pianos were actually pretty good so I can get by. All the Orchetral stuff was good enough. It's not a Genos but it aint supposed to be (+ $2000 more)
Didn't play too many styles, but with Yamaha LOTS of those are around anyways.

My main test today was...Can I live with the sound/sounds.....or will I HAVE to do Genos. I think I can live with them.
Oh, just for fun...on the way out I tried the PA1000 Piano...got to say it blew away the SX900 one....but, that's only one thing. The Yamaha styles suit my type music better than Korg. Since I have not tried out Korg since my PA2XPRO I may go back and give the PA1000 a chance, but I think I will stick to Yamaha.

Hi Lee ,
That’s the problem, Yamaha styles suit the music I like ,  better  than Korg . Hence, I gave up my Pa4x for the sx900.
My ideal would be a Korg with Yamaha styles. Haha.
I just got fed up spending all my time trying to do the above.
More fun playing.
Best wishes

Rikki,
OK...thanks for that info...you have lots more experience than me.......You validate what I have been thinking!
When I had the Korg, I was not inspired most of the time...yes, some styles/sounds did but, most did not.
The features, programming flexability is far better with Korg, but if the instrument does not inspire you to play....well, it makes all those great things not as important.
I am 71, don't have time to play with features...I want to make music, play songs I like and sound good.....

Hi Lee,
Basically my experience was,  I couldn’t use my right hand for 8 months after breaking my wrist, we had just moved house, so I kept all 3 of my keyboards packed up.
When I finally unpacked them , thought, this is nuts having 3 keyboards. Decided I might try to  sell a couple.
So finally after 5 years I spent some time on the psr S950  , it being the one I decided I would try to sell first, wanted to make sure everything was functioning correctly.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. The ease of finding styles for songs I wanted to play etc etc.
In the end I decided to replace  S950 with the sx900 . Wanted the new sx features.
I ended up selling my PA4x  instead, did sell the S950  as well not much point having 2 similar keyboards just for home use.
Haven’t regretted selling my Korg.
Best wishes
