Changing the time signature in a style
« on: September 07, 2019, 09:00:12 PM »
Hi,

I am working on a song which using both 6-8 and 3-8 time signatures. The style I use for this song is however using a 4-4
time signature.

Is it possible to change the styles time signature from 4-4 to 6-8? Would it also be possible to insert a temporary time signature change to 3-8?

I am using the chord step recording feature in midi multi recording mode, but cant seam to find how to change the time signature there.

Is my only choose to use an external DAW and edit the time signature there or is there another choice?

Thanks
/Jorgen

After doing some more research, I don't thing it's possible to achieve what I am trying to do.

While it's possible to modify a style and it's time signature in style creator and save it as a user style, it seams like it's not possible to then select the user style in the chord track function. Only preset styles seams to be supported.

Anyone know why this limitation exist?

This is Yamaha, and you have to get used to it! :)

BTW, buy a license of StyleMagic YA software from www.midisoft.pl (it's only 50 euros/60 dollars or something like that). It has all you need to build a style in each measure signature you want, you can convert from 4/4 in 6/8. But there are some limitations that Style Engine (Style Function of Yamaha) will not read some of your controls, like Sustain control (even if Style Magic YA accept to insert in channels event and will play it thru midi usb cable, when you will import the style in keyboard, that control will be ignored). Like this one, there are more things you cannot do because keyboard "will not understand", like half bar measure (you want a 3/8 and your style is 6/8.. you cannot insert that measure, but you can use the new function of Half Bar fill on assignable buttons ;) )

Regards,
Vali
