1783 MB Voice Wave Size Limit In YEM?

I don't suppose there's any way around this limit? I have only three packs that take up the whole thing.  :-\

Maybe Yamaha will release a major update in the future to expand memory for expansion packs. As korg did for Pa4x from 1.5Gb to 3Gb with only the firmware update.

Currently that's a fixed limit on Genos.

I don't think so.
This will be a next model feature ;)

I find that with Genos voices being so good now I don't need to use many expansion packs. Yamaha packs are compressed and only use a small amount of memory so you can load quite a few.
The third party packs which are now quite a lot do not do this and will and will use much more space. .

Balkan pack is 450MB and
Middle east pack is 290.
So just 2 of this pack are around 750MB ......

Yes ,,, we need more memory definitely....

I have seventeen packs loaded into my Genos and still have a little space left.

I think that we have a different point of view of memory availability, according to our needs. Also for me 1.8 GB is not sufficient, I wish I could add more sounds but I can't.

Five or six years ago, Tyros 5 was able to use 2Gb memory.
Genos launched in 2017, the price of memory chips is now much cheaper.
Yamaha only for Genos 1.78Gb in my opinion is quite stingy and less,  compared to the development of technology

The (optional) 2GB card for T5 is still over £300 today. So getting 1.7GB included in Genos is relatively generous.

Of course, T5 uses a special type of memory chip which supports the high transfer rate needed for sample playback. I don't know if Genos uses a cheaper type.

Yes flash memory used in keyboards is not that cheap.

Quite true. The tone generator IC used in the Genos and S970 (and later) is a significant departure from the older IC ised in the Tyros 5. ("IC" meaning "integrated circuit.")

The new generation (SWP70 tone generator) uses the same kind of commodity NAND flash memory as fast SSD storage units. Cost is significantly lower than the previous generation waveform memory.

I can only assume that Yamaha will pay attention to user needs and add more physical flash memory for user data in a future keyboard in the product line.

All the best -- pj
