Genos styles converted for PSR3000?
« on: August 18, 2019, 11:21:16 PM »
Hello,

My Dad has my old PSR3000. It still plays great!  He asked if my Genos styles would work on his PSR3000. I can't remember if the Genos style format goes that far back to play on the PSR3000.  Obviously the voices would be different unless they were changed.

Has anyone converted Genos styles to play on a PSR3000 or older keyboard??  Thanks.  -charley

No one could get them to sound correctly in a PSR3000. Here is why:

The PSR3000 keyboard uses styles that are SFF1 format and starting with T3 all keyboards use SFF2 format.

So a program was created to change SFF2 style formats into the SFF1 format. This worked for a few years but Yamaha has increased the number of MEGA voices that are used in their styles each new model. Which means even if you change the SFF2 to SFF1 style format you still do not have an instrument (Voice ) that will work in the style (it will sound Wonky, Weird, like noise).

If he is just looking for more good style to use in his PSR3000 here at the bottom of page link are 532 styles I made for my PSR2000 that will work great in his machine.

And here is Gary's gig set of disk page. Look at the bottom for his huge collection of styles for PSR3000 items.

You can also visit other "Collection" members pages to pick up even more styles for him.

Drake

Hi Charley,

I converted these for you:

Genosto3k

Unfortunately I cannot check them, but I suspect that most will work on your PSR3000.

All the best,

Henni
