UVN to Multipad ?
« on: March 19, 2018, 11:22:12 PM »
Hello,

Would like to know if it is possible to convert UVN's to Multipads in a Ty3 ?
If so, where are the step by step instructions to be found ?

Your reply would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks and best wishes, Babette

Hi Babette,

UVNs are expansion voices, which once installed in the keyboard can be played as a voice, and used to record multi pads, just like most preset voices.

Some UVNs simply use and 'remix' wave samples that are already in the keyboard, and can be installed without any further memory (you can usually identify these by their small file size, typically 1 to 5 KB or so).

However many UVNs contain new wave samples, and therefore require expansion memory to be fitted in the keyboard. In a Tyros3 this was in the form of DIMM modules, so if your UVN is one of this type, you should first check that you have DIMMs installed. This type of UVN will be much larger file size than the first type (typically starting at hundreds of KB or more)!

Check your UVN and your keyboard first, and post back if you need help on installing the voice.

Ian

Hi,

If you have an UVN with complex human voices like words, or drums series to one key, or acoustic complex sound you can make a PAD using that voices (UVN) and pushing that specific key(keys), when you make it, which you want to hear on the pad.

Hope to help you

Thank you for your fast reply.
Yes, 1 GB Dimm has been installed.

I would be very grateful to be informed how to proceed : how to make a multipad from a UVN after the UVN has been uploaded in the T3 ?

Thank you all for your support !

Hi Babette,

Multi pads can be recorded in real time on the keyboard using the 'Multi Pad Creator' function.

You access this on a Tyros3 by pressing 'Digital Recording' button and then pressing button C.

The voice that is used for recording the MP is the one currently loaded in the Right1 voice part, and you should be able to select your UVN for this, either before opening MP Creator or from within it.

Note that the voice can't be an S.Art., S.Art.2, or an Organ Flute voice, and if your UVN is one of these types, then when you record the MP in MP Creator, it will be replaced with a piano voice! Also note that if you want the MP that you make to follow the chords that you play, you need to use only certain notes!

You can find instructions on the procedure for actually recording the MP in the 'Tyros3 Reference Manual' which you can download if you haven't already done so.  This is a different manual to the 'Owner's Manual' that is usually supplied with the keyboard.

I'm not sure where you are (other than in Europe), but the Reference Manual is available in a few different languages including French and German if that is better for you.

Here is a link to the Yamaha UK web page from where you can download it, there will be an equivalent page on your own local Yamaha site if you prefer...

 https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/contents/keyboards/downloads/manuals/index.html?l=en&c=keyboards&k=tyros3

The instructions for recording your own MPs are at the start of the section 'Multi Pads – Adding Musical Phrases to Your Performance –' which starts on page 70 of the English version.

No you can't record a vocal to a multi pad. If you have a voice sample as a TVN you can use this. Select the voice to right one and record your multi pad.

No. Tyros 2 does not support audio multipads.
