Anybody use the Yamaha subwoofer?
« on: May 23, 2019, 12:54:55 PM »
Hi does anybody use the Yamaha subwoofer with their PSR S975? If so does it give a lovely added sound quality and richness? Is it loud enough for small gigs that way?

Hi,
I 've got the subwoofer for free as part of a temporary deal with PSR S975.
The boost that provides to the keyboard is really impressive.

Nevertheless I'm using this gear at home only, I could not tell you what could
could be the result in a wider ambient.....

Regards

For home using, I use the KS-SW100 which has outstanding bass.https://my.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/accessories/ks-sw100/index.html
Now, for giging events, I take my portable and light but very powerful Qsc CP-12https://www.qsc.com/live-sound/products/loudspeakers/powered-loudspeakers/cp-series/cp12/
Yamaha PSR-SX-900, JBL EON ONE Linear-Array PA System.

I bought an SW100 subwoofer to use with my PSR S975 about a week ago, so early days yet,but I am impressed. The bass is of course enhanced but there is in my view a subtle but worthwhile enhancement of the overall sound, clear and well rounded. The only slight downside comes if like me you use headphones a lot. When you insert your phones the internal speakers switch off but the sub being fed from the line output keeps on woofing. Easy enough to switch the sub off but if you want a correctly balanced sound in the phones you have to go into the equaliser and switch off the sub setting. When you want to go back to speakers you have to switch back to the sub setting. A bit fiddly but overall I still feel it is well worth the trouble.  I only have this for home use so I cannot comment on gigging use but I hope My comments help. Regards Stuart

Thanks, friends. I was about to post a question about the sub and 975 when I saw this thread!
