Expansion manager
« on: May 03, 2019, 02:51:58 PM »
I've never bothered with expansion manager in the past for my Yamaha arrangers.  With that said do I have to add any memory expansion modules to the Genos to take advantage of the new free expansion pack Fiesta Caliente?

No, Genos comes with over one gb of expansion memory pre installed.
So no need to add it

You just need the latest YEM programme loaded on your computer and you need to register with Yamaha Music Soft. That's all.

I wonder how many people are satisfied with the YEM program from Yamaha.
I read no different than that people have problems with it, that there are many different ways to use it,
that editing sounds is an almost impossible complicated matter to do.
that saving made packs is not clear to everyone either.
So is it's not time for Yamaha to replace this terrible program with a product that anyone can understand and use ?

Could be much better but Yamaha does not listen well to customers. Modern way: make the simple difficult,
Old (and best way) make the difficult simple..  My opinion.    Lloyd

I totally agree. The YEM looks like  something from 20 years ago. I wish Yamaha could hire some better application developers.

I don't think that developers are bad. These are some rules of Yamaha to NOT share all things to the users. ;) I don't think is so hard to let user, for example, to change name of a wave file (key sample name) or to activate wave cycle property of a voice :) But Yamaha think that we, users, are thick-headed and we don't know what to do with those properties or other things that are present in uvf files but not shown in UI...

Maybe, they will wake up one day ;)

Vali

Amen and thanks, Vali!

UVF already has XML tags for SArt and SArt2 among other things not exposed by YEM. Even needed synth editing parameters (e.g., cross-fade, key tracking/sensitivity) are not supported. YEM is far from a professional voice editing tool.

I've said it before: Yamaha needs to assign one or two engineering interns to make a custom voice or Mega Voice from scratch and to keep notes about what is insufficient or missing. They will have a TO-DO list to keep the YEM development team busy. Yamaha need to "eat their own dog food."

We've only been complaining about this forever on this forum and several of us have written and complained directly to Yamaha. It's like baying at the moon.

All the best -- pj
