Registrations and Drum Setup problem
« on: April 14, 2019, 10:07:58 AM »
Hi.

Someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong?!
I've opened a style in Style Creator, and I have modified RHY1 channel, by change some of elements (Kick and Snare from other Drum Kits - factory ones). I have saved the style. I have also save the settings in a registration bank. What would you think is happening? When I load the registration, the rhy1 channel it not load my custom drum setup settings. I have to press on style button and reload style.

Am I doing something wrong?

Regards,
Vali

Hi Vali,
are you sure the reg is picking the new saved style and not the old one?
Have you changed name, folder etc of the style?
I would press the reg bank button, then pick the correct modified style then memory+reg bank button and resave the registration.

Sounds like you haven’t saved the registration properly.

Load your registration.
Load the user style you created.
Memorize the registration. Ensure the Style box is checked.
Save the registration file.

There is ONLY one style with that name on USB Stick. It is a new custom style and I don't have it in any other part in my keyboard.
The steps saving registration was (as always): Select style - press memory - verify the checked boxes (I use almost all checked, less Line Out, VH, KH) - press on registration button desired - Save by overwriting existing registration bank.

The curious thing is that when I load the registration it load my style, because on main screen it appear, and when I press on main screen - Style section (orange) it will open the style choose page with my style already selected (white background). I only have to press one more time on it to load drum setup settings. Very strange!

I tested it on my keyboard.
The Style Worked perfectly Via USB.
I don't see why you have a problem.

Test it with any other Style and see.

The same scenario? You have modified your style in Drum Setup Section?

I modified the Drum Section.

Saved it as a New Style.

Then I Registered the New Style.

I had no Issues

:D Not as a new style. Save it over the existing style. I don't make thousands of styles if I modify something on a style. When you save over an existing file, the keyboard ask you if you want to overwrite, so what I suppose is the overwriting process of registrations, which has some glitches (or the glitches are in my head :) ).
Make my scenario: overwrite style, overwrite Reg Bank. Please

Vali

I made changed to the same Style, and overwrite it.

I did the same for the Registration.
And it works for me.

I think you have a problem with the keyboard.
Or you're missing something.

I think the problem is the extension of the style. Watch the video and I believe you will understand what it is all about. The registration will save changes to Drum Setup no matter where Style is found, USB or USER.

Regards Norman!

I think Norman (PSR) and Vali (Genos) are using different keyboard models, and  I suppose it is possible their "degree of glitchiness" could vary when it comes to dealing some fine details. Genos underwent significant software changes and odd behaviours were common to start with, some of the less popular yet to be fully addressed by updates.

Thanks ckobu for your video.
My style is not a prs style, is a sty style. Please do something, because you did only some minor things in drum setup.
Please change the Kick to another one from another drum kit, and snare, from a third drum kit. Save style by overwrite, save registration with new style. Load registration with the "new style" and see if it loads the changed elements. Please. I'm at work right now (12:29 PM here), till 17:00 I'm at work and I cannot test.

PS: Do NOT press on style after you load registration, only load registration and hear if it loads default elements or changed elements :D To be more evident, change it with House Kit Kick Or Dance Kit Kick ;)

Best regards,
Vali

In this case Registration invokes only the location and the name Style. Registration must not be memorized again. But I made this step later (1,33 sec). If the Structure of the Style is changed (drum setup), a change in the sound must be heard.

Thank you for your video, ckobu. Very relevant, in this case the problem is on my keyboard. I wait for coming home and test with my style and my registration.
Thank you very much!  ;)

Vali

What is happening?! Some registrations are good, some are bad. But what in the registrations do this "reset" of style?!

https://youtu.be/lsveqixL740

I have attached my registration file.

Thanks

I think the problem is in Style (Flori de liliac), not in the registration. Flori de liliac does not have all the necessary information in the Header and then retrieves the ones that were in the previously called style.

I don't know if the following is relevant, but if you load your registration bank into Murray Best's 'Yamaha Registration Manager', and select button #4 Ole, Ola F#m, an error message appears saying: 'Left Split Point higher than program maximum, has been reset to B4'.  If you clear this a Processing Message error appears.

None of the other buttons containing data produce the above results!

Thanks Ian for this information. I followed your details and indeed there is a wrong split point in this registration, set to B5. But I also know the maximum split key for left part is F#6, so no error should be generated. I have reset it to Ab2, and also Right3 to A2. I have saved the registration and registration bank. Strange is that this 4th registration is the only registration that will set my "Flori de liliac" registration 1 style as it has to be, as it is saved on my media, with changed elements in drum setup. If I choose any other registrations inside this bank, it will reset style's drum kit to default settings, and don't care about my setup made in drum setup.
I have to mention that this registration bank is copied from my old Tyros 5.

I also checked the style. It does not appear to have something wrong inside.
BTW, when I load the registration and it sing the bad drum elements, if press on style it will load correct assignments made on drum setup.

 :-\ :(

PS: The split error is followed by another error. I sent the reg file to Murray. I hope he will tell me what is wrong with it to be able to solve my reg problem.

I tried your copy of style Ckobu. The same thing happens. So I've decide to send rgt file to Yamaha to check it and see what's going on. Is there a Registration problem or style engine problem.

I "solved" my problem by creating a user drum kit in YEM, collecting data from my style drum setup and use them in YEM. I have modified my style to use my custom drum kit. And now works fine, but this is not a solution to the problem. It means we cannot use everytime Drum Setup because we don't know if registrations or other style will create a problem to keyboard and will not load our settings made in Drum Setup. I wait for Yamaha's answer, as well, as I wait for Murray answer.

Regards,
Vali
