Yamaha Genos Streaming event at AudioworksCT 2/11/19
« on: January 30, 2019, 09:48:44 PM »
Hi Guys,

Yamaha will be at my store AudioworksCT February 11th, doing a demo and live Q&A streaming event at 11:00 am eastern time. If there are any questions you can send them to AudioworksCT facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/AudioworksCT/ and I will get them answered during the stream with examples if needed. They will also do the same for the Montage at 3:00 pm Eastern.

Doing the demo is Heratch, which some of you already know, here is his bio

Heratch Touresian is a Technical Sales Specialist with Yamaha’s Pro Music division. With more than 15 years of experience within Yamaha, he is considered an industry expert in digital music, DAW, electronic drums, and recording.  He’s also a busy southern California-based entertainer, and holds programming credits for Stevie Wonder’s “So What’s the Fuss”, and has scored for several short films.
To that effect, Heratch is a Genos and Montage guru. He uses the Genos to its full potential, as a live performance instrument with his band and is the studio as the ultimate songwriting instrument, and possesses deep technical knowledge regarding Montage, using the vast flash ROM memory to create his personal sounds and the 32-channel interface as the centerpiece of his production studio.
He also enjoys conducting seminars for consumers and Yamaha dealers on the practical applications of arrangers, digital pianos, and synthesizers. Meeting him is a great opportunity for you to access his vast technical Genos and Montage knowledge, and he is looking forward to answering your questions.

Must admit I found this a little disappointing. The sound of the demonstrator could not be heard clearly through most of the demo which made it difficult to watch and I did not notice any customers questions being asked or any problems being answered that some people have been having. Maybe I expected to much.

Hi Eileen

Sorry for the volume issues, I’m usually the one on technical duties, but Yamaha wanted me on camera and mic.

The questions we addressed where sent to me prior and Heratch covered them.

I will be personally doing more, as I am getting more questions

It will be a slow process, since I am a 1 man shop

Thank you for your reply and sorry you had trouble with the Tele screen and sound. I am in the UK so probably look at things differently. We are also blessed with tip top technical department that really go the extra mile for us.

Hi Frank - Great presentation for the most part, here comes the BUT.  As soon as you posted the presentation I started calling my Genos folk and just about every one of them said 'I have no idea what they're talking about'. What I am trying to say is the 80-20 rule is in effect here in that 80% of the folk who can afford and will purchase this fantastic instrument probably only understood 20% of the information. While both you and he are really really knowledgeable regarding the extensive range of the Genos, the people that play with easy play, big note music are not able to comprehend how sophisticated your knowledge is, both musically and productwise. While I played for many years in  the era of pedal chord chord oomph pa without rhythm box I was still able to pack the dance floor because I kept it simple and as my reputation said 'I played for the dumbest dancer', and the better dancer always had a basic beat. Just a suggestion that I hope won't offend in hopes that your future offerings will be more comprehensable so we dummies can get more use out of the great instrument we purchased and can't wait for the next great thing to come out. Can it get any better? Don in MI

That was the thing, there are a bunch of videos, showing basic operation of the Genos, so to do another basic one, to me, just wouldn't make sense, especially have someone like Heratch there.

I will be doing more simple demos of basic functions in the future to cover all the points.

I just needed to take advantage of that opportunity.

While I appreciate the time and effort that went into this session - I too felt that the guys could have paid a bit more attention to the microphone levels so one can actually understand what they are saying. And I must admit that I had seen demos that were better structured and organised than this one. And where were the questions of the audience? I was hoping that there would be a good two-way dialogue - but maybe I was expecting too much :-)

Anyways, thanks for the recording of all this and posting it up here. Even if it isn't what I had expected; it takes time and effort to put stuff like that together, which is what I appreciate.

Cheers, Roland

Just want to add a few more words of appreciation and encouragement to Frank.

I am so happy that a small North American (NA) dealer had the gumption to promote Yamaha arrangers! Even though the big on-line chains sponsor their own launch videos, active promotion and support of arrangers in NA is just about zilch!

Thanks, Frank, and please pass our thanks along to Heratch, too.

Take care everyone -- pj

I have watched 30 minutes until now and looks fine as a presentation.
The man is explaining the buttons of the keyboard and what you can do with them.
Some may think this is just for people not familiar with keyboards but if we look at the questions people are asking on this forum I don't believe this is true.
In other demonstrations I remember a lot of presantation of styles, new voices and audio drumkits, some new features of Geno's,the touch screen and their great piano skills.
Next days I will watch the rest..
Maybe I learn something I haven't noticed on my model..
After all, all the series work the same way so this kind of videos are good to watch even if you don't have a Genos. :)
