GENOS: Hidden Preset Voice Folders
« on: January 21, 2019, 06:06:02 PM »
Hi All

It would appear that the Genos has possibly at least 2 hidden folders in the Preset Voice category.
You can see the one called "Hidden2" in the attached picture.

I was just wondering what theories people have as to why they are there.

My only thoughts are that Yamaha have allocated some space in the built in memory for future voices possibly provided by an operating system upgrade.  I know this is possibly wishful thinking on my part, but the folder shown has 17 voices inside it, which appear to be just copies of existing one.  Maybe they just needed to allocation (by using duplicate files) to ensure they will retain some sort of accessibility.

What do you think?

I remember someone already found such kind of hidden folders on Tyros or Genos.
They contained white, pink noise samples for calibration.

Not sure my memory is good.

Hello,

There is an eastern egg in the Yamaha reface CP, you can get an extra acoustic piano if you start it with no sound selected (you have to maintain the knob between two presets), but I 'm not aware about something like this on the genos. How did you get it?

I was checking which voices had been used in the style parts of a Style given to us by Francesco Massa.  The voice used for Chord 1 was the only one that showed the hidden folder.
