Gerard, don't you find it hard to play when there is very little contrast between the white and black notes? To me, it resembles the websites with black backgrounds and white letters - very hard to look at for prolonged periods. Just my two cents worth. Other than functionality, it looks really neat!

I assume the keys covers are separate? If so, take them off. I like the glossy surface above them, although it may be an issue under theatrical lighting, due to glare.

Off topic slightly but related - Genos II DEFINITELY needs to go back to the tilt screen. I played a big show last night and the red spot light over the stage was reflected by the Genos fixed screen. At half time, I asked the lighting tech to change the light. Not good Yamaha! Not all of us are playing in controlled rooms like our living rooms. You built a pro level board and yet forgot that some of us are pro players who work under all sorts of lighting conditions. Do you want the pro market are not??? But I digress...sorry Gerard :).

Lee,
I thought it would be hard to play also but when I tried it, I had no problems.
Each key covers are separate and are put on one at a time.

Very ugly!!!

I saw this on Korg, too... It's ugly on Korg, also!

Don't change the beauty of Genos!

Really FUGLY. This is a plastic mass-produced keyboard for a working musician not a Ferrari 250 GTO museum piece.

There are skin covers for all kinds of gear, for instance our mobile phones. So why not the Genos? I think it is cool :) You do it to give them a personal look.

I agree with the covers for the keys.
It might not be for everyone.
But I am totally sold on the foil for the keyboard itself.

Yes, there are many different colors.
Some are shown in the youtube video in my other post.
I just messaged him.
For Genos only black and grey.

Al,

Thanks for your reply.
I may not keep the key foils on but I would definitely keep the keyboard foil.
Protecting the keyboard will only help in resale value.
As someone already has said, we protect our phones with cases and screen protectors, why now on an expensive keyboard as well.

I'm totally agree protecting keyboard, but really, black color for white keys?! Let's find some white protection or uncolored adhesive tape... My opinion

I have praised the Genos since day one for the slight texture to the key feel. My hands noticed that immediately after having previous Tyros models.  I wouldn't want to give that up. It certainly looks different though........... a bit to different for me !!    Enjoy!  -charley

The keyboard foil probably would look better without the ones on the keys.  ;D
Is the text printed on the keyboard foil or is it transparent??

I wonder if long term it might do some damage to the original lettering when you eventually take the foil off.

If you like the look, you should keep it though. Each to their own.

The keyboard foil is transparent.
It will come off easily whenever you sell the keyboard.
This way it looks brand new.

I have owned quite a few keyboards and have gigged with them.
I take good care of my keyboards and never had issues with scratches etc.
Most  Keyboards are well built. My  Tyros 4 was 6 years old and sold like new, even after many gigs.
My point?
I don't need protection as I take care of my equipment and can enjoy it's natural state and beauty.
Sorry to say, but I find the protective cover ugly too and it would somewhat ruin my joy playing it ...  ;)

I like the gloss, but I also wonder if it would be an issue with overhead stage lights reflecting back in your eyes. The stupid non-tilting screen is enough of a nuisance on stage or outside - never mind a gloss finish :(.
