I'm thinking about painting the 9 slider 'caps' for my Genos, to match the color scheme for how a Hammond organ is set up.  Sort of just for fun, thought it might look 'neat' and it would be functional too.

I'd like to buy a set of slider caps so I can have a standard (unpainted) set available in case years from now I want to sell the Genos.  Does anyone know how one would buy such parts?

Hi - sure, once I complete this project, I'll post photos.  Thanks to those that supplied some part info.  FYI, the "slider knob" (black) is priced at $3.78 for EACH slider.  They don't sell as a pack of 9.  So, I ordered a bunch of those.  It's funny/odd they call it a "slider knob" ... I think of it as a "slider" or a "slider cover", since I usually think of a "knob" as round in shape!  :-)

Also, I found the part # for the actual (round) knobs (not sliders, but the 6 knobs above the sliders on the Genos) ... it is ZW5670I0.  Those are $4.04 USD each.  I ordered a few of those too, in case I want to experiment with painting some knobs different colors!

Individually boxed!!!  :o

Thanks for exploring this area, Jim. I'm currently taking a different route -- the Crumar D9U. It's a work in progress:

Well, here is my first attempt!  2 photos.  I know that the brown is not quite what Hammond uses, but it was the closed I had around ... and maybe a little easier to see in a dark room vs. Hammond's much darker brown ...

Nice job, Jim. Why is there a number 2 on the fifth slider?

Look at the screen.
The sliders match what is displayed on the screen  ;)

Hi Jim --

Very nice work!   8) Even though the brown isn't "official Hammond brown," I like the reddish brown better. Greater contrast should make it easier to grab the right bar at the right time. (And there's never enough time to make a change...)

Thanks for sharing your work -- pj

Hi!  Thanks for the nice comments.  The "2" on one slider is left over from my previous setup; I had put labels like 1, 2, 3 (for R1, R2, R3 volumes), L for Left volume, S for Style vol, etc.  When I removed the slider caps/tops to paint, most of my old number came off too.  I left the "2"; not sure if I'll remove it, or leave it to help me find "1 2 and 3" volumes quickly for when the sliders are in "part volumes" mode . . .

This is how my other (gigging) Genos looks now; I may give it the "Hammond" treatment too, and if so, I'll likely remove the numbers and letters ...

Does anyone have a copy of the Genos service manual?  I live in the UK so its a bit tricky to locate these things easily over here.

Jim, i talked to Peter Baartmans today at a Demo
Showed him the pictures
He really loved your hammond sliders

If you would be able to get the hammond drawbar “ nummers on then he would like to order a set of them.

On a similar-but-different note, some stores carry replacement knobs and slider caps in a variety of bright colors— yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, green, white, etc.— and I think they’re supposed to be of a standard size or design that fits just about any synth or mixing/DJ equipment:
