Is it possible for Genos to play a .ppf voice?
« on: January 14, 2019, 02:10:24 AM »
Good evening,

I recently upgraded from a PSR-S970 to a Genos. The transition went smoothly, except for a voice I had on the S970 that isn't recognized on the Genos.

The filename is "cms kiowa flute.ppf". It is an awesomely mellow, even ethereral, flute with just the right amount of breath noise and vibrato. I really miss it. I originally downloaded it from http://www.cms-sounddesign.de/page108.html

Is there a way to make Genos recognize the file? Or perhaps a utility that might be able to convert it into a supported format? The S970 had no problem with it - it just played.

Thanks very much, and Best Regards...

Bill

A .ppf is loaded into the YEM software.  In YEM you create an Installation File .ppi and save it to your computer hard drive.  Then copy the file to a USB stick so you can load it into your keyboard.

Thank you, Joe. I was doing some further searching after posting my question and I just came across a .ppf to YEM correlation that I had overlooked. As soon as I saw that, I remember mucking about with YEM right after I got the S970. I apparently got something to work, but I don't remember what I did. I guess it's time to learn YEM.

Note: There's two problems with turning 70. First is your memory starts deteriorating, and I can't for the life of me remember the second thing...  :)

Have a great evening, and thanks for the help.

There's an old saying... "use it or loose it"  I'm 71 and keep very busy and eat well.  Try some hot cocoa at night it's good for the brain.
