Here is a link to Genos downloads:
https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html#product-tabs

'Yamaha European' site, but should work elsewhere as well.
Cheers 🥂

Thanks Gunnar Jonny,

So far i did install the OS 1.3 upgrade

Also downloaded the bonus playlist but have not been successful to install in the playlist.

Have visited the dowload free Genos site and bookmarked it... there are some bonus vocal packs.
Successfully downloaded the missing T5 styles.

If i get the French site then i just change language.

Now am trying to figure out how to get my midis files to play from the USB stick..

So much appreciate your reply.

cheers

.......... Now am trying to figure out how to get my midis files to play from the USB stick..

If I'm not totally wrong, it goes something like this:

-Press 'SONG' button
-Touch i.e. 'SONG A'
-Choose MIDI in the upper left 'switch' (at the touchscreen)
-Choose the USB inserted from the left menu
-Browse to your midifiles.

You can also choose 'List' instead og player A or/and B, and add songs to a playlist.

I'm not using midifiles, but this was a topic here resently.
(Also it is described in 'The Great Wise Book' , also known as The Owner Manual from page 72 in the english version.
https://europe.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/7/1130977/genos_en_om_d0.pdf )

Hope this is for any help. :)

Hi Elaine,

Here is a link to some Playlist extras.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1a6u989b6eqztuy/Bonus%20PlaylistForGenos.rar?dl=0

=  2 lists containing playlist information sorted by Song and by Registration
+  readme.txt  on how to use the Playlist

Important:  Press the white PLAYLIST button a second time to open the selected playlist; it won't help double-touching the playlist name and there's no OPEN button - pressing the PLAYLIST button is the only way to go.
If you like, you can copy the entire Playlist to the USER section of the Genos (the SSD drive).

Elaine,

link= https://www.dropbox.com/s/zaof9pxttncky62/Discover_Genos.rar?dl=0

'Discover Genos' is another interesting Yamaha download. It demonstrates the power and features of Genos.
Unzip (unrar) the contents to the ROOT of a USB stick  (do NOT put the files in a folder!).

- Insert the USB stick into one of the 3 “USB TO DEVICE” slots on Genos.
- Press the «PLAYLIST» gateway button.
- Touch the playlist filename to call up the Playlist File Selection display.
- Navigate to USER/USB1/Discover_Genos.
- Select one of the 5 playlists and press the PLAYLIST button again.
- Select a playlist entry (using the dial wheel) and press [ENTER] to recall the playlist record.

As soon as you recall a playlist entry, a text file appears in the display of Genos explaining the
particular registration bank.

It really helps checking out all the options.
Have fun!

Hello Elaine,
To play Midi or Audio songs Look at the middle of the home screen. You will see Song A Song B. Press song B and at the top of the screen on the left make sure it is set to Midi. Now select where your song is User or USB.
Highlight the song and then press the play button on Song B.
The playlist will only work from USB 1. This is the large USB stick that most people install under the keyboard in the hidden compartment. I use a 64 GB one that I transferred the content of my Tyros 5 hard drive to.

thanks again for the information on playing midi files.
I was able to play a midi file only by picking one out from my midi file folder.
I could not play all the files in that folder in succession .
It seemed like was pressing lots of buttons and going every which way in order to play a midi file.
I have quite alot of midi file folders and with the tyros i use to just select a folder , see all the midis and either select the one
i wanted or just put the file on play in succession.
I see that there are blank spaces to be filled in but don't know how to fill in these spaces with .
Then when want to close a message pops up asking if i want to Close without saveing??/ saving to what????  OR  "cancel"
I will check my manual again.
Maybe trying to do too many things at one time.

Why can't i  transfer midi files to the USER song section???

to be continued

Hello Stijn,

Thanks for all the links for help with PLAYLIST...
After working with the links and installing and seeing the playlist records and then trying to APPEND and not successful am
going to table this project for a while.  As getting down the other functions are really more important and less confusing.
Also i have developed over many years a song style list of my own that sometimes prefer over what the yammie folks
recommend.. and using 3rd party styles.   My songstyle files contain the songs that am more apt to play.

I think you have given me and alot of our Genos owners lots  of helpful links and hope others can also benefit from your
contributions.   So am going to keep your links handy for when able to focus entirely and need to have the playlist.

My songstyles are on my USB sticks..and are easily accessed should i need to play a song and then transfer that to the USER area
when want to work on it.
Sorry for rambling.

many thanks again... am having a delightful and challenging time learning this wonderful machine.

cheers

Hi Eileen,

So when are you coming over,, bring jammies and a toothbrush we have the rest.
Right now feel like in the mud with the midi file playing function.
As stated in previous post was able to get a midi file to play, but the function is so different from what am used to on the
tyros and S   series.
I do not use the back hidden usb connection... i use the 2 other portals just fine and my midi files and songstyles are on those
files.
The genos has 58 gb... and have transferred lots of styles and voices to the user.
Now i want to transfer some midi file folders.

Am not going to deal with playlist right now.. i have my own songstyle folders that can access real easy by pressing the user
USB function and getting those file PRONTO.

My problem now are the midi files folders and getting them to play. in succession, one after the other,, from the USB stick.

Otherwise today i was able to navigate the quick record, the chan. off, on for the styles. and fool around with the mic.
Some registrations are already transferred from my stick to the USER area.
Will navigate making registrations at a later time.

Oh, yes i do have English Tea......see ya.....

cheers

Yes Elaine you will find using Genos is a little different to the Tyros system but once you are used to it you will find it quicker. One thing is that if you are moving registration set ups to user and have used third party styles
linked you will have to make those links again and then re-save to user.
To get Midi files or WAV files to play one after another you have to make a Songlist and select what you want and load it in. Press the Song button to see how to do this. It dose not take long to create a list then you just save it so that you can call it up any time.

Thanks Eileen and others.

Now am completely focused on the SONG LIST... (will table the playlist query) and the OS update is already solved.

Maybe should put this thread now in the song function board.
But here goes .

I have made a SONG LIST,,,  on the keyboard,, put my songs in a folder called new songs.
When i touch one of the songs to play,, NOTHING lights up but i get an exclamation !   SIGN  next to the file.
The A or B button remains unlit.

I have tried to SAVE the songs and put in the song NEW SONG folder that i created.

Cannot figure out how to play the song... of course MIDI was pressed and the same with the LIST button.
I know the songs are in there as when removed the USB stick from where they were transferred and have turned off and on
machine.. the song list is there.
I previously recorded on the machine a demo song for myself and place it in the song file... That one playes.
I do not know what the  !  exclamation sign means.
I do not know why the A or B buttons are never lit.

What am i doing wrong?????

thanks again.
