Lyrics in midi?
« on: August 10, 2018, 11:25:12 AM »
Hey!
Now I've done a midi in Genos (Digital Workstation) and it would be great if you could add the entire text at once.
As it is now, it's hard to do and you do not know how it works.
The next thing is that in Tyros you got a menu and could choose what you wanted in the midi file,
but that menu was probably only there for sight, you did not have to tick in VH/Mic
because it still came in the midi-file and is hopeless to find in sysex so it can be removed.
In Genos, this menu is not available, but Genos does the same to add VH/Mic anyway,
and it is just as hopeless to get rid of sysex there without entering and studying the HEX languages.
Yamaha could easily fix this by adding a column that writes in plain text what the sysex file means.
Or am I completely wrong when it comes to making midi-files? Should it not be easy or?

I include the files I made. If there is someone else in the gang that has a simple solution to how to put in the text easy.

Hoping for many answers.

Greetings Pierre

I doubt if you're going to find a simple solution. As far as I know, lyrics in MIDI are entered in such a way that each word-- and, in some cases, each syllable-- will occur at specific times during the song, as determined by the "delta time" value that precedes each MIDI event. This allows the words and syllables to be displayed in conjunction with the correct notes when the song is displayed in notation form.

Hi Pierre,

directly on Genos, you can only link a TXT file to a MIDI file by using a Registration.

To bring the song text as LYRICS into a MIDI file, you have to use an external software program. I recommend the Windows program "Easy XF" from the German company "Midiland" for this purpose:

https://translate.google.de/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.midiland.de%2Fen%2FEasy-XF.htm&edit-text=

https://www.midiland.de/en/software_frameset.htm

To make only (little) changes of the Lyrics in a MIDI file, you could also use PSRUTI (Editor button) or, for example, MixMaster (Lyric button).

Best regards,
Chris

Thanks for the answers, Found an old Sonar program in my old XP computer where I entered the text, smoothly it went.
Why can not Yamaha fix such a menu by pasting the entire text in the melody track?
Their programs are old-fashioned, the program would need a proper upgrade.

You can write text in Staf mode but inserting lyrics is very complicated.

Let's hope that Yamaha modernizes the song program in Genos,
so we can write texts easily.

Hi ckobu!
See the picture.
What happens if you click here? Donīt you get the same window as mee? I have Sonar 6.
Just paste the text here in the meloditrack, and split the words with the character -

It's possible. I use the method with PSRUTI because I do not need a melody line. An additional reason is that it marks the whole verse.

Hey!
Is anyone using Cubase?
Does it have any advantages for Genos?
