chordal step entry and song recording

Browsing the forum I ran across a reference to step entry of chords in creating a song.  T he question is can I use most of main features while playing a song?  In particular can I use the vocal harmonizer?  The arthritis in my hands is getting so bad that's its hard to play in real time and this looks like it might solve my major problem.
