Hello from Georgia!!
« on: April 28, 2018, 06:08:39 AM »
Hi everyone! I am so happy to be here on this forums!

My name is Daniel, I am a Keyboardist.  I started playing organ when I was 9 yrs old. No lessons, no teachers, no one has taught me how to play an organ or piano. Mainly taught by my father by Chords, his grandfather was an organist. The rest is done on my own and play music by ear and this is the gift from God, I can't really play by notes. My parents bought me back in 2002 Yamaha PSR-GX76 and played it like crazy!! Love it! Been using mostly styles to play the keyboard lol. I'm now 33 years old.

Later on my sister gave me her PSR-280 61 key then my 76 decided to quit on me. oh well LOL. I was planning to play 2 keyboards. Last year (2017) around Jan my mother bought me another keyboard YPG235. Man I love this keyboard!! I look forward of getting me a PSR-S975 to replace my 280 in the future.

Big Welcome from uk. Nice to see some younger guys on here.

You are truly blessed with the gift of being self taught and being able to play without music sheets.

The guys and gals here are all so helpful and knowledgeable. If you need assistance someone will quickly come to your aid.

Thank you everyone! I'm very glad to be here. Roger or anyone, I do have a question. I'm checking out the Stylefiles for my YPG235? It seems it reduced to 3 styles, I'm guessing YPG235 might be obsolete pretty soon, but that won't be a big deal till I get the PSRS975. My question for this site. Do yall have any other styles I can download for my keyboard? For YPG235? I won't get discouraged if you don't. I'm just searching through, I may need a software (if any) to create new styles.

You don't need to get styles that are specifically for the YPG-235. You should be able to get just about any Yamaha style-- with the exception of an audio style-- and make it work with the YPG-235 if you make any necessary adjustments to the voices, effects, sections, file format, and filename/extension. There are free utility programs available for making these sorts of changes, and you can find links to them-- or to the sites where you can find them-- via the Utilities section of the main PSR Tutorial site. But if for now you want to stick with styles that won't require a lot of fine-tuning to get them to work on your YPG-235, there are style collections available on the main site which are in the SFF1 format and which contain only 2 variations, so those should be the most compatible.

Hi Daniel,
Welcome to the forum. Some things are just not taught no matter how hard you try and its a gift as you said to have it come to you naturally. These Keyboards are so fun to play around and experiment with and you don't even need a band to follow you around when in the mood to play. Must say there are a lot of knowledgeable people and musicians here to help if need be, so ask away in the future.
