Topic: Best settings for a better Grand Piano sound

I have a S670 and  I've exhausted enough settings trying to come up with a decent Grand piano sound...

Short of buying expensive software, has anyone come up with a winning combination of settings that sounds really good??

The basic sample cannot be changed so you can only play with effects and settings. There have been many altered piano voices posted on thus forum, and it is really a matter of personal opinion whether the piano sound is better than the original. My own opinion is that Yamaha do a reasonable job of optimizing the voice and I have not personally found alternatives to be a big improvement. How you play is also important. If you use the piano for single note RH melody lines then it might seem to benefit from a bit more ‘presence’ but if you do that and then play piano chords over the whole keyboard you might get some horrible resonance. It’s all trade offs which is why I feel the original is reasonably optimized for a wide range of use.
Basically I think there is no definitive answer to this, it’s all taste, opinion and playing style.

Some people except for effects like reverb,brightnes,release,attack etc like to combine a  second piano or something else voice at a much much lower volume with the basic piano voice.

Let's be honest,do you believe a keyboard even of 4.000 euros can re-produce exactly the same sound of a 30.000 euros grand piano?

It's not just how good the samples are,but is also importand where the sound comes from
(from 2 speakers or the whole wooden "body" of a real piano?) and how the sound waves spread to the enviroment until the get to our ears.

Also digital pianos have better piano sounds than our keyboards.
That is why some people prefer those series instead of  the keyboards series.

Maybe my laptop is too old because it couldn't do anything with any of those files...

You wouldn’t be able to open those files on a laptop. You need to put them on a usb memory stick and load them into your keyboard.

Formated usb drive with keyboard, loaded the files on it, plugged it in to the keyboard and have no clue how to find them must less use them...

Not too computer savy...

Press Expansion/user button and tab to USB. There you should see the voice. Just select it and play.If you like it then save it to your User voice section.

Nothing to do with computers, its how the keyboard works. All the voice files are in the voices section and when you select a voice along the top of the voice screen is a set of tabs that allow you to select either an onboard voice, or voice in your user memory or the usb memory stick. Styles selection works the same way. Thats how you load styles and select styles via memory stick.
