Money for nothing - synth
« on: August 07, 2021, 12:32:17 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a synth sound which is playing in the background throughout the verse.
(This is the "laser" sound you can hear at the beginning of each new line on the verse).

I reviewed the synth section of the Genos and could not find a good sound.
I looked through the legacy section too ..

80 hipsters - any advise on how to get close to that sound?

Thanks Much!

In the Piano section on my SX700 there is a voice called Clavibright. Something similar must be on the Genos.

Thanks Shubid.

I tried the entire Clavs set (including Legacy) - None worked.  :(
In the recording  ....I'm hearing a very sharp synth ...

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Well, other than trying different EQ settings, you could buy the Money For Nothing-style at www.d-o-o.de. I did and it says that the sound used for the synth thing is ClaviBright.

I think he's talking about the brass stab that happens almost randomly in the background (and also the falling 5ths that happens right before the chorus); try 80sSynthBrassTack, or 80sBrassStack? Or any of the surrounding synth brass sounds.
They def modulate the sound through a modulator (chorus/phaser/flanger; I think the latter is what they used) to get a more similar sound.

Yes!

It's exactly what I meant.
Thanks Amwilburn - Will try these 2 and if the sample is close enough, will apply some effects on it.

Thanks,
