Is Genos/T5 compatible with PSR S975
« on: March 03, 2018, 05:47:36 AM »
I have a T5 and Genos and have created tons of custom sounds and styles for them on YEM. Would these be fully compatible with the new S975?

(I'm not referring to the Yamaha packs, I'm referring to sounds made on YEM).

Hi Chony,

The word "fully" is the troublemaker...

The S975 doesn't have all of the DSP effect algorithms of the Genos. Not sure about the S975 vs. T5 as I haven't done an analysis.

If the YEM voices all use custom waveforms, then they would be compatible with S975. YEM custom voices are standard AWM2. I don't think it's possible to make a custom S975 voice from preset waveforms, so that shouldn't be a compatibility issue.

Of course, the S975 doesn't have Revo drums.  ;)

Other than that, SFF2 styles are SFF2 styles and should play back on the S975 without an issue.

Hope this helps -- pj

P.S. I've done a little style porting and YEM voice work, so this note is off the top of my head.
