I hate to rain on everyone's parade but I found a new problem after updating to version 1.20. First of all, the song display time counter still does not display the total length of time correctly if an audio file is longer than 99:59 minutes/seconds long. After it gets to 99:59 minutes/seconds the time counter reverts back to 00:00 and proceeds forward from there until the end of the audio file completes. The new problem I encountered after loading a specific audio file that is longer than 99:59 minutes/seconds long, when I used my finger to slide the display counter up to about the 95 minute location and then tried to play the audio file from that location, instead of playing at the 95 minute position the display counter abruptly went back to 00:00 and began to play from the beginning. The funny thing is (not funny at all really)
I could
not turn off the audio file by pressing either the physical song start/stop button or the display touchscreen start/stop button. So the audio file is playing as I write this and I'm hesitant to turn the Genos off because it might corrupt the audio file and it could possibly cause other unintended consequences as well.
Just imagine if you were playing an audio file in front of an audience (at a party, convention, concert, etc.) and this anomaly happened? An unlikely scenario but not too far fetched nonetheless. It happened to me, right?
If you cannot turn off the audio file your whole routine is interrupted. The only alternative would be to use the power button to turn the Genos off when the audio file is currently playing or else wait an hour and however many minutes until the audio file completes and then turn off the Genos. But by that time your audience has stood up and left the building. Just like Elvis but nowhere near as gracefully if you know what I mean. If you power down the Genos when the audio file is playing you risk possible file corruption and perhaps other negative consequences also. Yamaha should address this glitch ASAP. And while they're at it to please fix the time counter display so it correctly displays the total length of time of an audio file that is longer than 99:59 minutes/seconds long. If it is a hardware related issue then that's understandable but to get confirmation of that would be helpful. If it is software related then a solution should be possible I would think.
As you may remember I had to return my first Genos after it abruptly shutdown while I was in the process of transferring files to the User Drive. It dealt with the Auto Power Off function that unfortunately malfunctioned. Not only did it corrupt the files I was transferring to the Genos it also corrupted the USB flash drive I used to transfer the files. It also corrupted the Solid State Drive on the Genos itself and therefore I had no choice but to return it. Thankfully I still had a couple days left on my 30 day return policy at Guitar Center otherwise I would have had to send it to an authorized service center. No telling how long I would have been without it before it was finally fixed and shipped back to me. I consider this new problem a significant glitch in the system that should be addressed. But we are at the mercy of Yamaha and they have the final say of course. In other words, don't hold your breath. But it doesn't hurt to dream.
