Playing MIDI files on Tyros 5
« on: February 18, 2018, 10:57:32 PM »
I've just upgraded to a Tyros 5 and copied all my MIDI files onto it's hard drive. (I previously had a PSR950)

All the files are in several folders and I can see the folders but when I click them the contents are empty

Can anyone please enlighten me?

Thanks in anticipation

Hi

You have to have the correct category SELECTED first, then browse the folders, and you will see they are there.

eg. If you are searching Registration Files: Press Registration, then browse folders. If Voice, or Pads, select from their button, then browse to find/select.
If you are searching/selecting Midi Files, Press the SONG entry, then again browse to the folder!

I had this temporary mental block when I started with T5 😂👍🎹

The T5 Displays only the type of files you’ve requested.

If you start with the multipad button, you’ll see only multipads.
If you start with the song button, you’ll see only midi files.
If you start with the style button, you’ll see only styles.
If you start with the registration button, you’ll see only registrations.

So to see your midi files, start with the Song (A) button.

I appreciate your help folks.

I've just tried that. I pressed "New Song" adjacent to button A and then navigated to the hard drive. Folders are there and even folders inside folders like they should be, but no MIDIs :'(

Any more ideas please?

Do you have more than 400 files in one folder?
If yes, reduce the number ... and you will see it.

I'm very grateful for all your help. Sorry if I wasted your time. Must be old age :)

It's annoying ... but ...

You can copy the folders, OK, no problem  .. BUT you must copy the files inside folders for EACH category.
Takes a bit of getting used to!  You cannot do like you do in Windows Explorer.
So, you have to be browsing in correct category to see the files, you have to copy in same way too.

Hi Whino, do as Fred says! Providing you have actually copied them?
It will work! 😁.
Have a great day!
