Hi everyone,
my name is Dezso, I am a 49yr old hungarian guitarist.
I have "always" planned to learn the basics of keyboard playing, and it seems the time has come. I am glad I found this great community with enormuous amount of information, and friendly people.
Well...if you expect some newbie questions to come, you will not be disappointed ;)

Hi Dezso,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for becoming a member.  I'm sure you're going to learn a lot about Yamaha keyboards here on the forum and you'll find plenty of help here.  Please let us know when you have settled on your choice of keyboards.

You'll want to be sure to visit the Home page and check out some of the tutorials you will find links to there.  This link will take you to the Home page of the website: http://psrtutorial.com/

Should you later decide to become a supporting member, which will include lifetime membership, other forum boards will become available to you, as well as a wealth of additional musical knowledge; however, there is absolutely no obligation to do so.  You may also use the following link to discover the full benefit of becoming a Supporting Member of the PSR Tutorial.

http://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,15536.0.html

You’ll also gain access to an Excel Song Index database, made available to supporting members by our good friend Peter (XeeniX), which presently contains 44,000 plus song titles in over 700 indexed books.  This index is updated often.

In lieu of making a donation only, you may also order any of the websites resources, which can be found at the following link:

Hello again!
I was in "read only" mode since my last spot, but it does not mean at all that I gave up The Plan.
Not at all.
Your help, advices, thoughts, and the infinite amount of information here drove me to this day, which is the Unboxing Day :)
This morning I bought my PSR-S775 (tempting pricetag:1.049EUR). Well... it was hard to concentrate on the daily work, but finally I'm at home, and there must be a huge scissors somewhere.
But I wanted to share my joy with you first: the journey on the black&white field has begun.    (And I can't stop grinning while writing this post)

Cheers,
Dezsö

Welldone Dezso and a nice price indeed.
Have lots of fun my friend.  :)
Is not so hard to play keyboard by your self, especially if you play the quitar.
Lots of videos on you tube that help even for the simpliest things about playing a piano/keyboard.
And a question of yours will help other people too,no matter how "simple" maybe the answer.
So feel free to ask.

status report
buying this instrument : it was one of my best decisions in my past few years. Not a surprise that I'm spending more time with reading different manuals than playing (yet), but meanwhile started to learn this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDhp0ZIJKoE

It is a bit challenging for a beginner like me, but I already like what I can hear when practicing...
Of course, only using a rough guess of the voice combinations, and need to work on the smooth chord changes, but at 1st try it sounds acceptable (for me ;)  )

Wah Clavi + Phase Clavi
Electric Piano + Smooth Tine
Electric Piano + Octave Brass

Good night all.

I am glad that you liked your s775 my friend.  :)
Definitely not an easy song Dezso, there are too many black keys involved in there, so don't worry about it.
You could search the styles on your keyboard to see what combination of voices Yamaha developers may have chosen for the OTS to get some extra ideas.
Or search the synth and fx folder for sounds with the "wah wah" effect  ;D
and also on guitars and bass folder some strange bass sounds.
And you can use the modulation wheel with your left hand to listen how cool and funny those voices sound.
