Torture
« on: October 11, 2017, 04:24:50 AM »
I'm 56 years old and supposed to be beyond new toy excitement. It's not as if I haven't got plenty to be getting on with, work, play and just living wise, but I still find myself coming back here on an all too frequent basis to see if there's some new snippet of information to latch onto, another thread on what Genos is, isn't and should have been lol, another document to download or a video to watch etc.

This waiting is torture... I want my Genos now :)

David,
You state your 56 yrs. old and still get excited about a new product like the Genos. Well, move over because I am 88 yrs. old and
I too am being tortured while waiting for my Genos to arrive. I think it's simply a marvelous board and this will be my forth Yamaha. Have always ordered as soon as they let you and have never been disappointed ! Yamaha makes very dependable
products as proven over the years. If there are bugs Yamaha will provide updates to correct them.

At my age I guess the Genos will outlast me !    Lloyd ;D

While we're waiting, nice Piano here in the beginning:   :)
Saara Aalto and Adam Lambert team up for Bohemian Rhapsody!
https://youtu.be/gLDPk38htwc?t=4

Otherwise the music is probably sample-based? Perhaps the Genos would be able
to produce similar results?  :)

Yes, the excitement we feel is what many people feel when a new phone, or a video game, or controller comes out - got to have it NOW!

I'm just glad these keyboards are not updated and upgraded every 4-6 months like a lot of other technology is!
We'd probably lose our minds, and all our money!

In this society of advanced technology we have gotten used to "instant gratification".   Whether its news or a video or a websearch we expect instant results.   However there are some things we must wait for..............and I'm sure the Genos will be worth it.  I'm 58 and I feel like a kid waiting for Santa too !!      -charley

Mark

Hi Mark  3 hours long!!! :o  £28 for two people  plus a £1 each for glasses, not cheap for the flix, ok for an afternoon out In this day and age.

I personally thought the effects and scenery were good, but the 3D average as there was slight blurring now and then because the screen is really close.
The sound would give the Genos a good run for It's money. The sound is unbelievable BUT LOUD!!

I thought IMO that the first Blade Runner was better and had a better storyline with Rutger Huer being a replicant chasing Harrison Ford with that cliffhanger ending.
Also the music was better In the first Blade runner.

Today I'm afraid the storylines rely mostly on film effects.
I still would rather  watch blue ray on my 50 inch tv or even 3D.

The film was using Knives a lot  and a bit gory. It was direct pulling no punches and their was no tension build up in the film

I thought Harrison Fords cameo was pathetic as he now looks like a hunched old man trying to act hard. Must have a super ego.

I would of liked to see this film with a more Pshycological approach rather than mindless violence.

Todays actors are wooden with no real character in my view as film effects take centre stage. At least Harrison Ford has Character still

Worth a watch but did not leave me esctatic

You would have more fun watching  Back to the Future In Imax 3D 8) If It were possible.

All the best
John

Hi David

I know the feeling, I am waiting for a 76 note Tyros 5 to be exchanged so the customer can take their Genos.
I have put down £300-00 as a deposit 4 weeks ago, and I am still waiting.
If anyone is living in Essex in England can you put your keyboard in early, so I can have my Tyros 5.
I have phoned the dealer who explained that i should have the Tyros by the end of October.

I also cannot wait, I feel as though I have been done on the deposit, it was only a £99.00 deposit required on a new Genos.
Make a old man happy get that Tyros into the shop now.

Steve

You read my mind i thought I was going to get your Tyros 5 until you mentioned that it was a 61 note.
I wanted a 76 note for home use, as I have another Yamaha keyboard which i take on gigs.
I was prepared to take a 61 key if I did not have to wait, i was informed that most customers trading up to a Genos
had 76 note keyboards to part exchange. We did mention your name whilst I was contacting the shop, they know you very well.
I normally use Music Land Romford, but I decided to change, owing to the price I was offered and the 3 year warranty.

Hope you enjoy your new keyboard.

hi Mjm
i dont think its Gratuitous violence the knife scene you dont really see much the camera pans out
i would say the first fight scene at the start of the film was more violent
its one of those films that is pretty slow going i recon 2 hours 46.min was way to long for this film rating 6.out of 10  :)

I am now inspired to get one of those capes to wear when I am playing my keyboards. Nice recording and instrumentalists.

One of my favorite keyboard masters is Jon Lord, especially his non Deep Purple endeavors. This live rendition of Gigue is better than the album. He starts off on a grand piano, then on to the B3 with a fantastic organ solo and back to the piano. The percussionists and string ensemble sound awesome in this quality recording. Love how the percussionist accidentally grabs a cymbal off it's mount, but without missing a beat simply throws it away. Noticed a Yamaha Motif in some shots.

Who needs EDM music after hearing this from a couple of old age pensioners :P :-\ ;D

Seems you got bored and wanted "some action" here? ;D

Anyway, the question is pretty easy to answer. There are more than 1500 times more people who "need" e.g. Sia's Cheap Thrills than the music you posted the link for. The former has about one Billion views on Youtube and the latter 644 thousand. It seems that you belong to a very small minority. ;D ;D ;D

But of course it's unnecessary to make this kind of comparison: there's music for everyone.

Some more links to help pass the time:

Here's a piano ballad version of Abba's "The Winner Takes it All"!, originally from the 80's. A stunning performance:
https://youtu.be/l7czLhG72mk?t=4

For some people Disco music from the 70's is good music. Here's a powerfull version of "No more tears":
https://youtu.be/c_k58eUpNOg?t=5

Some people might like more of music like "River Deep, Mountain High", originally from the 60's. Here's an energetic performance:
https://youtu.be/4KAFl-7xMmw?t=5

Yet other people might like music from the 50's, like "Oh So Quiet", originally sung by Betty Hutton. An entertaining performance:
https://youtu.be/p3B4RDII3tQ?t=6

etc.

I like them all.

P.S. If you "need" more, just use the search-function.  ;D

Hi Ash
I think that this record reached the top 80 back then, but when I heard It it was a must have.
Since then I married /divorced and now living happily with my soul mate at last , I had to get my collection back and a rep found  the Gnomes of Zurich on the cutting room floor somewhere and then I received it about 1990 It was brand new and never been played.
After that I collected everything I used to have and the rarest single I have Is Tomorrow - My White  Bycicle on Parlophone.
Now Records or Vunyl is my main thing  as It sounds far superior to Cd's. Try and explain that to a 18 year old!!!! :P.

Being a keyboard forum , I have loads to talk about , but I cannot go too far off track here as the moaners will start off again  (your In the wrong section )  NO I'm not !!!

THIS IS TORTURE 8) 8) 8) :o ::) :P :-[ :-X
