PSR-510 styles on PSR-S670
« on: September 30, 2017, 02:59:55 AM »
hello,

I bought a S670 some days ago and up to now I'm very happy with it. Made music for about 20 years I have some background, but I stopped making music 20 years ago, so many things are very new for me.
Actually I miss a style I had on my very old PSR-510 (#58 Fusion) which I need for a self composed song.
Is it possible to get this style somewhere as download? Is it possible to setup this old style in new S670?
Sorry, may be a stupid question, but sometimes I'm lost in all this new information.
Thanks for help.

Hi,

I'm almost sure that you will find it on these collections from the site.

And yes your new S670 will play all these styles.

Dear Misu,

thanks for this first hint, but there are listed many PSR keyboards but not my 510. Are there any lists documenting if identical styles are used on other models? Or do you or anybody else have another tip?

Just to learn I downloaded the styles-ZIP for the 740 and got tons of STY files, but my manual says that I have to have PPF files to upload custom styles. How can this be accomplished?

By the way, this 510 ist still here, but I have no idea how to get the styles out of it. Anybody has some minutes left to explain (if possible at all?)
Thanks again, hope to get some words to enlighten me...

Hi,

The PPF file are necessary only for the pack which use custom voices.
All that styles works with internal voices so download what you want, unzip, put on the stick, go to your keyboard, style section, find the USB and play the style.
To page 45 style panel you have (up right) 3 tabs preset user usb choose somehow usb and start each one.
Can be a problem because I'm not sure how works S670 but you have manual to see how play a style from stick.

Good luck
Mihai

It might help if you know the name of the style. I have many old styles from the 510 era.

glampfenpit,

Here are some styles from the old keyboards.  The 510 styles I re-created by recording them as MIDIs then converting them to style format. I think the PSR 1700 had many of the same styles.

Hi Glampfenpit,

According to the style list in the PSR-510 Owner's Manual, style #58 was called 'Fusion Shuffle'.

However there is also a style listed called 'Fusion' which is style #57.

#    Name                   Panel Name        Rhythm      Comments
57   Fusion                  FUSION             16-Beat      Latin flavored 16-beat fusion.
58   Fusion Shuffle       FUSION SHFL     24-Beat      West Coast type funk shuffle.

I have attached a ZIP archive containing a selection of styles with these or similar names.  Some of them are much more recent that the PSR-510 era, but perhaps the one that you are looking for, or even a suitable more up to date version of it is amongst them.

They are a mixture of SFF (SFF1) and SFF-GE SFF2) style formats but should all play on your S670, although you may need to revoice them if the voices that they use are not available on your keyboard.

Regards

Ian

Thanks everbody, problem solved, my 670 sounds now exactly like my 510 *smile*

Style "Fusion Shuffle" of 1700 is identical, perfect!
