Could of meant (UVI-Tyros 4 Library file) or maybe trying to recall an older Yamaha file type. I haven't come across the UVF either, but certainly UVN (Custom Voice), UVD (Custom Drumkit) and UVI (Library) files can be imported into your Tyros 5 via the YEM (Yamaha Expansion Manager). Also older Tyros 2 files, like TVN can be converted to the Tyros3/4 format, which is compatible with the YEM as well, however I have had mixed results with the Tyros 2 file conversions in the past.

If anyone is looking for the Tyros3 FileConverter V1.0.0, here is the link, but not sure if compatible with more recent Windows.
Tyros3 FileConverter V1.0.0
https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/fileconverter_tyros3.html

Importing Pack files and individual UVN, UVD, and UVI into the YEM is quite easy, as long as you don't have any corrupted files. The YEM program only allows you to import these individual files into an existing Pack or create a new Pack and rename to what you want. I included two attached photos, below. The first (YamahaExpansionManager) depicts the YEM with my Packs installed in the "My Packs" upper window area by clicking the + (plus) button or create a new pack.

The lower section (or window) area of the YEM will list the contents of a highlighted pack. I clicked one of my packs named, T4-Dec-13, which was one of my Tyros 4 UVI files I transferred from my Tyros 4 back in the end of 2013 when I purchased my first Tyros 5. I was fortunate that the original YEM accepted my Tyros 4 UVI files, so I was a happy camper from the very start. The YEM has improved significantly since then.

Once you highlight an existing YEM pack or a newly created one, press the +(plus) icon in the lower section next to the pack name (see YamahaExpansionManager photo). A popup menu appears - click "Import Content". A second menu appears (see photo "YEM-Import Content"). You can see that UVN, UVD, and UVI files are compatible. Just search and install into your highlighted pack. Once completed, import to your Tyros 5 as usual. Hope this helps.

I give you apretiation for your opinion.
I mean, when I see Yamaha expansion Manager in my computer, I want to explore the contents of Yamaha Expansion manager....
After that I see the folder consits Tyros 5.
Example the voice..
I see the sample extension is UVF not UVN or UVD.
May be you can see your computer.
Okay, I will show the picture I mean.
Thank you...

I have just looked at the packs in my YEM and no where do I see UVF. Just the voice names.

Question: What is an UVF File?
Have you found, downloaded or received an UVF file, but don't know which software program is required to open it?

Before attempting to open an UVF file, you'll need to determine what kind of file you are dealing with and whether it is even possible to open or view the file format.

Answer: Files which are given the .UVF extension are known as Uncertain Value Format files, however other file types may also use this extension. If you are aware of any additional file formats that use the UVF extension, please let us know.

How to open a UVF file:
The best way to open an UVF data file is to simply double-click it and let the default assoisated application open the file. If you are unable to open the file this way, it may be because you do not have the correct application associated with the extension to view or edit the UVF file.

Tip: Try to open the UVF file using a text-editor such as Notepad, as many file types contain simply contain unformatted plain-text and can viewed correctly using this method.

Hi Monang

Thanks for uploading the photos. Looks like you found these voices files from within the installed program files for the Expansion Manager on your (C:) drive. You should never have to access or modify these program files. The YEM program and features should only be accessed from the opened YEM interface window on your PC desktop. I would not try to attempt at opening these files from this location or moving them. It might corrupt your YEM program or create error message when the program tries to access these saved files.

The file names with the UVF extension in your photos have the same names as some of the voices within the Tyros 5 Preset Choir folder. My guess is, you were editing these voices (Normal Voice) from within the YEM program or perhaps adding samples to additional elements of each voice you were editing. When you made your saves from inside the YEM interface window, the program obviously would have to store them inside your PC within the program files. Perhaps the UVF extension is the format Yamaha is using from within the program to name these (Normal Voice) saves. It is my thought that these files are not meant to be accessed through the program files on your PC, but only through the main desktop YEM interface from the opened program.

If you were modifying these Tyros 5 Choir voices from the main YEM interface window, then you are aware that these edited voices must be saved within an existing voice pack. You cannot export the voices individually or somehow convert them into individual UVN (custom voice) or UVD (custom drumkit) as you were able on the Tyros 3 or Tyros 4. The only two formats you can export from the YEM are, (.pff) for individual voice packs or a (.cpi) your pack data install file to your Tyros 5.

Again, the above is only my guess, but most likely one could not directly convert these UVF files into UVN files. Hopefully someone else can offer their insight into these files.

Regards, Marcus

UVF is the XML format that is used by YEM for internal representation of voices. You can find them here:

* C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\YAMAHA\Expansion Manager\Packs
* C:\Program Files (x86)\Yamaha\Expansion Manager\voices\tyros5

The UFV format definition is not available for public. But as with XML, the format is human readable, so you can inspect voice definitions using a text editor.

Having this said, there is no converter available for this.
