Can I mute certain tracks in a style while playing live?

Yes, you can do this easily on a PSR3000 by pressing the 'CHANNEL ON/OFF' button.

Press the button to open the 'CHANNEL ON/OFF' popup display.  This button toggles between the Style parts and the MIDI Song parts each time it is pressed, so if necessary press it again to make sure that the display is open on the 'STYLE' tab.

Now by briefly pressing the lower row of '1 to 8' buttons below the display, you can turn the various style parts on or off.

If you hold a part button down for a second or so, it will set that part to 'Solo' and turn off all other channels.  Briefly press the same button to turn all parts on again.  Press 'EXIT' to close the popup display.

Note that after setting up the style parts as above, their part on/off status can also be memorised in a registration if the 'Style' contents group is checked when the reg. is made.

Yes, for the topic, depend of the model how.
Near to the topic, at least to the last models, in Fingered mode if you push (Left side) 3 consecutive keys will have ONLY drums
In Multi Fingered mode you must to push 4 consecutive keys for this.

Note that Ian has referred to MIDI Channels and NOT tracks.  He is correct.  This seems like such a little thing, but this difference causes a lot of confusion with many people.

The Yamaha style format uses up to 16 channels on a SINGLE TRACK.   This is called a MIDI Type 0 file.  The style displays as channels 9 - 16, but sometimes channels 1 - 8 play when playing certain chords.

Our keyboards only display the 8 style Parts. And the style Parts are assigned to a MIDI channel, so an example of this is: Phrase 2  normally plays on channel 16, but sometimes channel 8 may be playing the Phrase 2 Part.   How this is done is in the style CASM settings.  There is a switch setting telling the style to switch from channel 16 to channel 8 for specifically defined chord types.  In other words, when we play certain chords channel 16 plays the Phrase 2 Part and with other types of chords, channel 8 plays the Phrase 2 Part.

The most important thing to understand is that there is only one track and all the style Sections and Parts are recorded on different MIDI channels on that single track.

thank you for the answers. I find many of the styles tooo busy and being able to cancel certain tracks in the style will give me a more pleasing style.
