Hey Jeff,

I know, that the dealers will see and hear the Tyros5 successor in September, but they don't want to tell me the date and the location.

Sorry. I let you know, as soon as I have solid ...........really solid news.

Hermann.

Think people are clutching at straws now. What does it matter what a keyboards name is as long as it is a first class arranger instrument.

Hi Eileen,

Well I think that people are so impatient to see, hear and put their hands on the new keyboard that they must find something to bid their time... it's like trying to find a surname for an unborn child...

Anyway in a few weeks' time we will know for sure :-)

Hi Eileen,

I thinks it's all part of the fun of thinking about something new. But I do think that Yamaha as well as most companies do put a lot of effort into getting names right for their products, but sometimes get it wrong. Several years ago Rolls Royce were going to name their new car The Silver Mist, not a good car name for sales in Germany, they had to change it. Perhaps GENOS means something somewhere.
Apologies for German readers.

I am spending time playing and enjoying the keyboard I have at present Tyros 5. I am also busy doing things like backing up my Hard Drive and saving various things to USB. In a couple of weeks time I believe selected dealers will be invited to a private demonstration and things then should start to filter through. Till then I shall carry on playing my keyboard.

I for one am not picking on Eileen, she is most defiantly right. When something new comes along it doesn't mean that what you have got is obsolete. I don't think it matters what instrument new or old or type of music you play as long as you enjoy it. If you never want to upgrade that's great, how many people would love to own an old Hammond Organ or a Rhodes or Wurlitzer electric piano and they came out many years ago, I know space and money permitting I would.

Hello Jeff,

well I do not think I will change again from keyboard nor I will consider to do, due to the fact I received my new Wersi OAX 1 keyboard  :) yesterday after selling my (twin) Tyros 5-61 XL (with big loss).  :o

After a period of 3,5 years having a Yamaha key, I decided to return to the place and mark (Wersi) where still my heart is for more than about 35 years. I never had any disappointment in Wersi comparing to my short period of playing Yamaha T4 & T5.

Although I do not own any Yamaha key any more, I will keep following my forum friends just because I like to read all your posting.

BTW, there's still one Yamaha part in my room, that's the MG10XU Mixer.  ;D
Regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

I feel very sorry you have decided to leave the Yami fold.😥

Congratulations with your brand new Wersi.
A fantastic keyboard ! 😊

Does it recognize Yamaha Styles ? What about Yami's SA2 voices ?

What about the internal preset Wersi Styles ?
Are they usable for our Yamis or ... is conversion a must ?

Are you willing to upload these Wersi styles, if extraction is possible ?
Many members would be very happy and grateful, I guess.😅

Finally I may hope you will stay a member of this Forum !
Cross my fingers. 😉

Looking forward to reading your reply soon. Thanks !

From an inside source (can't break a confidential issue), definitely Genos. Apparently Tyros-backward compatible, but substantial user differences have been implied in that it will be better-suited for live performance for starters. When - anyone's guess, but it seems to be well on the way. Sorry this doesn't add much and reads so much like a cheap rumour; it isn't.

Most likely some major improvements (and added functions) over the S970 live performance features, and with the quality of the Tyros brand still  in tact.

I know it is expected to be shown at the Yamaha Club meeting here in the UK at the end of October and Martin will probably demonstrate it.

. Its expected, that the Genos will be about 300 more then the T5...
This helps for keeping prices of older units healthy...

By not waiting to long to change keyboards you don't lose as much money. Mind you I have never though of it as losing money because I have had three good years of enjoyment from it. I payed 500 to upgrade from S950 to S970, and I am happy about this. I sold the S950 before the S970 was available, so the price did not sink too much. You can do this every 3 or 4 years. That's not too much to have an up to date professional keyboard.

Do you mean an increase at the average resellerprice at this moment or at the price by introducing from the the T5?

Yes i am, and that reseller price never changed... the only thing that changed over the course of 4 years is the price dealers are allowed to advertise the Yamaha tyros 5 for.... an dthat only most recent..

Reseller prices of a naked T5 are 4000 and 4200

Hello,

I am the opinion, that one should not overthrow in the matter " Genos "!

I started with a Tyros 1 and I remember, that the Tyros 2 was technically a mega jump!

Therefore, I believe that Yamaha will begin now, similary the tyros-series, with Genos 1, and there, I think, caution is appropriate!

Possibly the change to model Genos 2 will be again a sensational quantum leap in 2-3 years!

Therefore, you should perhaps wait for the second model series and also, where is the problem?
With a Tyros 4 or 5 one is served excellently and the 2-3 years to wait, until the Genos series is more mature, that can be done!

This is the same with cars so - you should always wait for the second model series!

But of course - my personal opinion - everyone should act so, that he finds his happiness!

Kind greetings

Eli

Hi Eli,

I completely agree with you on this matter, there is no hurry.

Of course, there might be som new functions in the Genos which will make it difficult for some Tyros users to wait another 2-3 years to wait for a Genos 2...

A good compromise IMHO would be to wait about six months after the new board has appeared on the market before buying it, since it is the time necessary to get accurate feedback from the first users. Also if there are some bugs (like the screen issues with the PSR S910), in six months time they will have been identified and, hopefully, have found a solution.

Anyway it will be nice to listen to/watch the first Genos demos, either live for those lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a demonstration, or on video for the rest of us.  8)

Hi Jeff,

Yes, you are right of course, it was  the S910. ;)

For Yamaha's sake, I am sure some early birds will want to buy the Genos as soon as possible. On the other hand, people who can afford to wait for some time might possibly avoid some problems, esp. since it will be a completely new line of keyboards.

It all depends on members positions. The longer you keep a keyboard the less you get for it. As for glitches that all keyboards get from time to time once Yamaha are aware of these they are put right very quickly.

We must also remember that it is people who buy these keyboards early that discover some of these problems and are able to report them quickly.
