Newbie on Tyros 5
« on: May 08, 2017, 03:07:13 PM »
I'm a retired guy, 68 years young (okay I'm old) and just bought a Tyros 5. Wow, this is love at first sound! I had a Motif XF6 and sold it, as I found the tweaks and controls were more than I needed. Now I know the Tyros can be tweaked as well, but my desire was to be able to play pretty much straight from the box, and the Tyros has delivered that and more. It's great to have a forum like this to bounce off ideas and issues with those experienced with this marvelous music machine, and I look forward to helping others in the future as I get onboard as well. I live in TN, married to a great woman who is a real musician (unlike me). So, hi to all and let's make music!!
Current Gear: Tyros 5 76 key, and a whole lot of ambition.
Past Gear: Motif XF6, and a whole lot of frustration.
and.....Magnus Chord Organ (when I was 10!)

Hello Rick,

Like you I started with a Magnus chord organ then advanced to a Lowery Genie then a Gulbransen Paragon and finally a Yamaha HS6 which I kept for 26 years. Three years ago I bought a PSR-S950. This year for my 71st birthday I bought a Tyros 5. The S950 is great and the Tyros 5 is fantastic. Enjoy your Tyros 5 and this forum.

Regards,

Ed

Hi Rick
I too am a T5 owner and yes it was love at first sight just over two years ago, even though the gGenos has just arrived on the scene the T5 is a formidable instrument and you will have hours of pleasure playing it.
