Midi File conversion
« on: March 27, 2017, 04:39:58 AM »
I received 3000 Midi files that I want to use on my T5. Seems like most of these files are in unusual Keys like Ab or E# or similar. Most of them have scores that I'd like to play from, SO is there any tool to convert Midid files from one key to another and also have the score changed?

If you load a MIDI file into the Mix Master utility (available from the main PSR Tutorial web site), you can view it in the List view, click on the "Note Editing" menu, and there are two options for transposing notes-- either all notes on a selected channel, or all selected notes. After you transpose the notes, be sure to save the modified file.

Even easier, just transpose on the keyboard.

Hi Martydee,

You can also open the midi file in MuseScore, a free music notation program, transpose the song to the key of your choice, save it in the MuseScore mcsz format and finally export it as a newly created midi file in your preferred key.  :)

Why not use the transpose in the song creator, but always remember not to transpose the drum track or you will get some strange noises.

Marty,

While all suggestions will work, by far the easiest is to let the keyboard transpose.

Pick one of your songs, press the Score button to get the notes displayed, the press the Transpose button. The score will instantly be transposed to whatever key you want.

It's that simple.
