Midi ext changes to sty in PC
« on: January 31, 2017, 07:15:10 PM »
Hi All,     Friend has 710, she records midis to a USB.  Normal .midi ext on 710, but when she takes it to Laptop, 2 out 4 or 5 midis will show a .sty, & won't play.
This is a new occurrence, been recording a few years now.
I believe it's something on the laptop. She doesn't use Midiplayer, but I've forgotten name of what program she uses, not one I know.
Any ideas which direction to search.
A big thank you for any assistance,
           Cheers,
                                Alan

Hi Alan,

I have never seen a PC change an extension before. But just have her change the sty to mid or midi.

Regards
Drake

Perhaps at one time she had put the STY files on her USB drive to use them on her keyboard, but then forgot they were there? Unless her keyboard lets her create and save style files-- some models do, some models don't-- and every so often she's been going into the style creator instead of the song creator?
