The Simplest pgm whereby I can transfer a S910-STYLE file from a column of 100's to create a Reg. file

Greetings, I've been losing time & getting frustrated I thought I had a pgm 4 yrs. ago. Must have lost it.  The pgms. i DO have only want to OPEN .reg files.
I need to create a .reg consisting of those 8 banks w/ my fav styles--and do this all on my desktop.
Thank You,
Don
PS- I'd like to be able to move style files like the Tyros Registration filer moves regis.
I hope I explained what i'm looking for ans   I hope this is the best place to post this...thanks

Don,

The only program that I know of that would let you build a registration bank from other registrations is Registration Manager

Get it here:  http://psrtutorial.com/util/best.html

But in regards to what you want to do... have a database of styles on your PC and select from them... this would be problematic.  The thing about registrations is getting the file path right to all styles and Multi pads, MIDI files or anything else you save in the registration memory... and then keeping all those files in the same location in the future.  If any files are moved after the registrations are created, they won't work anymore.

So... building the registrations on the keyboard and selecting styles, Multi Pads, etc, from the PERMANENT location on the keyboard or USB1 or USB2 drivek is the reliable way to do things.  Then there will be no surprises when you select a registration any time in the future.

Hope this helps.

Hi again JOE,
Thanks for the response.  I have that pgm you suggested BUT to me I already MUST have registrations w/ those styles embedded in them, to create  new  regi.

People here donate their time & effort & offer GREAT styles--where the heck (& how) do I get them onto my 64GB thumbdrive & be able to call them up  in seconds ?
That sounds like a ridiculous question yet I've tried to LOAD into my 'USER'  ram of the 910. Then when I take out the SOURCE FLASH D.  I'll call up the NU style, it will read what I named it "I was made to luv you baby"  but it has played w/ a swing beat-with brushes !!!  Not too rockish  for my use. I have another note I'll send you. Wait a sec.  let me ask the group if I include these 8 styles-how would I make a REG after combine them ??

PS I'M only too happy to SHARE these as well :)

Ho Don

I'm not totally sure that I fully understand, however the STYLES are NOT embedded in registrations. All that is in the Reg is a link to where they were when you created the Registration.
When you change the style NAME in Murray Best's program you must also change the location to show where it is, otherwise the new style will not be selected and it will retain the old style previously selected.

Bill

As  Bill states... the registrations do not contain any files, only information about where to find the files.  If you move the files or change the names of the files... the registrations will not be able to find them and load them.

Hi Bill & Joe H,
I appreciate the answers & your time especially Joe for the HOW TO... page.  I really DID learn how to make a .reg  file on the 910 the 1st week i had her. I was using all the INTERNAL styles- so there seemed to be  NO PROBLEM.  tHEN WHEN i SAW  all the many great .sty shares from here...i was like a kid in a candy store. I only use ONE  thumbdrive - i did try a hub to put mp3s on one & registration on the other-- it got complicated so i settled on the 32GB & later the 64GB thumb.
I MOVED a "Set 1" that Joe made up for me from the PC to the thumbdrive...i going to see what  happens    I'm willing to bet  I will still have to make (create) a .reg  on the 910.
I'll let you know.
thanks,
Don
