Complete YAMAHA Indian styles For PSR-S970
« on: February 22, 2016, 12:08:21 AM »
Hi friends!
I made a collection of all YAMAHA Indian styles. They are from
1. 'Indian2' Expansion pack for PSR-S970,
2. 'IndianDevotional' Expansion pack for PSR-S970,
3. 'IndianEntertainer' Expansion pack for PSR-S970,  and other from S950 Bonus styles of Indian2, S750 Pack and Bonus styles of Indian2, S650 pack and Bonus styles on Indian2 and some preset styles from S710 & S550.
I brought together all the styles (95 styles) in one collection by avoiding duplicates.
Also I created an expansion pack, . (Indian Total Voices.ppi). This is a combination of all voices of the above 3 Indian packs. I did this with the help of 'YAMAHA Expansion Manager'  by bringing the 3 project files together and removing the duplicates  ('Indian2' normal voices and Drum voices are common to other packs and have some additional voices). Also I deleted all the styles for limiting the file size. Finally I saved this project as pack installation file (.ppi) by YEM. Thanks for the YAMAHA corporation. This will work only in S970.

Please check from my style page of PSR Tutorial (today only I posted to Joe)

Hi Onacimus,

Thanks for the great work, i have installed the ppi and everything works perfect. Just one request since you have shared all the voices in ppi, i am unable to install any other pack with this, if possible can you post the voices and registration as ppf so that we could combine it with other packs. Anyways thanks for the hardwork.

I downloaded your new filed labeled .ppf Project File  It is not a Project File... it is a .ppi Installation File.  Can you please correct this?

Hi Friends!
Today I made a note to Joe Waters. He may correct.

Some tip for PSR-S770 users...
1. Connect your USB flash storage device to the USB TO DEVICE terminal, and then call up the [FUNCTION] display.
    2. Use the TAB [<] and [>] buttons and [G] button to select [SYSTEM] and press [ENTER].
    3. Select [EXPORT INSTRUMENT INFO] and retrieve Instrumental Info(.n27). Disconnect your USB flash storage.
    4. Connect your USB flash storage device to your computer, and start up Yamaha Expansion Manager.
    5. Import Instrumental Info to Yamaha Expansion Manager by selecting [Import Instrumental Info] on
  • button next to the Install Target

If you load any project file (other than S770 model) import the Ints. information file (the file will be 'PSR-S770_InstrumentInfo.n27' it will be in the USB drive.) Click on that icon. Then only you can save as pack installation file(.ppi) for PSR-770.

On his styles page it says "These styles will play well in S970 only if any one of the three Indian packs are installed."

He also mentions the Indian2 expansion packs for PSR-S950, PSR-S750, and PSR-S650, so it's possible that the styles will play well in one of those models if the Indian2 expansion pack is installed. It's also possible that they'll need a bit of revoicing if the styles used any voices or kits which weren't in the Indian2 expansion packs for those models.

And of course the styles should play in other models if they're converted as necessary and revoiced to use only the voices and kits which are available on those models.

David,

StyleMagic is an excellent program to edit style files and convert the S950 styles to the S650 format.  But it is not free. There is a demo you can download to look at and try.

shamlily3,

You don't need a .n27 file from someone else. If you own an S670, you get the .n27 file from your keyboard.  Look in the Utility Menu, it's there somewhere.  The keyboard will transmit the .n27 number to your USB drive then put the USB drive in your computer and load it into YEM.

Thank you brother for all the hard work. I already have 3 Indian expansion Banks from Yamaha music soft. Some of the banks have duplicate styles.  Total styles for 3 Banks maybe like 65. I downloaded brother Onacimus's Indian styles file.  I am able to play the styles via USB stick which is PRS file.  Can I install this permanently on prs s970 by Yamaha expansion manager in s970 memory.  How to convert PRS file to PPF and PPI files for Yamaha expansion manager. What I am trying to save extra styles like table free, dandiya styles which I don't have when I bought Indian expansion Banks.  Those are bonus styles from prs s950. Basically I want to have these extra styles permanently on psr s970 memory without connecting USB stick. Please help, Thank you.

I don't have a keyboard that uses YEM as the expansion memory manager so I can't confirm the following, but I like to stay up to date with YEM and have it installed on my computer along with a S970 installed as a 'target' so that I can play with the program!

I notice that once styles (or Registration banks or Multi Pads) are in YEM (either imported as part of a PPF, or individually as pack content), when you select them to include in a PPI for an S970, only the 'User Drive size' memory requirement increases, not the 'Audio Wave size'.

I am aware that expansion voices require a small amount of space on the keyboard's USER drive as well as space in the dedicated expansion memory, but I had assumed that styles, registration banks and MPs are only ever loaded to the USER drive, and this would appear to be the case.

Can someone confirm this, because if it is the case then I can't see any advantage in using YEM to load only styles to the keyboard.  Do they perhaps they go into a 'pack' folder on the USER drive which I suppose might make them easier to find?

If a pack is deleted from the keyboard, or a different pack installed, does this delete any styles/regs/MPs loaded as part of previous packs?

If it does, then loading styles to the keyboard by simply copying and pasting them from USB to a folder created by you on the USER drive would use just the same amount of memory as installing via YEM, and would seem to be more 'permanent'!

Regards

Ian

Ian,

Since Yamaha masks all files types we cannot look at the file tree in the same way as on our computers.

When I access my expansion packs... this is how I am able to view the files.

1.  When I press the User Style button, I see my various pack folders. When I select a folder I then see the styles
2. When I select a User Voice, I see the various pack folders. When I select a folder I then can see the list of Voices
3. If I select a Pack Registration, I Tab to the user Drive and see the Expansion folder on the root directory of the User drive

If I back out of any of the above folders I see the Expansion folder.

So... the file tree is as follows:

Expansion Folder

      Pack 001 (folder)
           Styles  (folder)
           Voice (folder)
           Registrations (folder)
           Songs (folder)

     Pack 002 (folder)
           Styles  (folder)
           Voice (folder)
           Registrations (folder)
           Songs (folder)

     Pack 003 (folder)
           Styles  (folder)
           Voice (folder)
           Registrations (folder)
           Songs (folder)

But this doesn't tell us how the memory is allocated differently if you just copy files from your USB drive to the User Drive.  While things appear to look like the above file tree... YEM suggests that there are different blocks of memory for Voices, versus styles, songs and registration files.  And then there IS a separate block of memory for Audio Styles.

I think (as you have noted) we have to rely on the display in YEM to know how the memory is used.

On the last issue.  If styles are installed in the Pack using YEM, then they will be deleted if you delete the pack.  If you install styles on the User Drive (which will be outside the Expansion Folder, directly on the Root of the User Drive) those styles will remain when you install a new pack

Hi Joe H,

Thanks for replying so quickly.

What you describe is as I expected, so it would appear that  s970fan would be best to just copy and paste the styles from USB to a folder on the User drive.

Have you tried using Yamaha's 'Musicsoft Downloader' program to look at your S970 on your computer?

I have used this with my T4 connected  by USB, and when you expand 'Electronic Musical Instruments' in the program's 'Explorer', it shows what appears to be the full (?) folder structure and contents of my User drive.  You can get a copy from the S970 page on the Yamaha Downloads site.

Ian
