PSR-SX900/SX700/SX600 / Re: VOICE not loud enough

This is SO common, I've come across it so many times with my students over many years!

1) reduce the style volume
2) set the initial touch response to something lighter than 'Normal', try Soft 1 or Soft 2
3) play a little more firmly with the right hand
4) play a little less firmly with the left hand - OR - turn off the initial touch for Style and Left and set the balance as required
5) adjust the volumes or R1,2 and 3 as required to get the balance you need

Remember that all of this can be stored in Registration Memory. Start using that, it's your best friend! :)

Sometimes it is more effective to lower the style
volume than to increase the melody voices.

Hi Linos

You need to press your
MIXER /EQ button, and then adjust the individual settings to achieve the volumes you need.
It takes a little getting used to so Refer to your Owners Manual for full instructions.

Hi Linos, and welcome.

Yes... You can use all the styles from ALL the Tyros models on your SX-900.

https://psrtutorial.com/sty/yamaha/Tyros2/tyros_2.html

Although the SX700/900 doesn't have the Music Finder facility, you can import the. MFD files from these pages on a usb stick and your SX 900 will automatically ask you if you want to convert them to
PLAYLISTS.

See here
https://psrtutorial.com/sty/OF/musicfinder.html

So you can have Playlists from all Tyros models, and from many other Yamaha keyboards too.

Have fun!

Keith 😁

Well, I appreciate your efforts folks.  However, they were to no avail as I just pulled the trigger on the PA5X which should be arriving by the end of the week.  My SX900 will be around for a while as I begin the laborious process of transferring each of the 100 or so songs I have on the 900--I actually can't transfer them, I have to remake them individually on the Korg.  This will take me a while as I'll also be learning the Korg OS.

One thing is that there appears to be NO working forum for the Korg, or at least not anywhere near as active as this one and I will definitely miss that.  No good facebook groups, either.  They DO have a good tutorial series on Youtube, but that's still no substitute for direct question-and-answer.  The manual for this thing is over 1600 pages.

Thanks again to everyone for your responses....I'll still be hanging around for the time being.  :-)

I am also on the Korg Forum. I you have questions about the Korg you know where to find me. I know the Korg very well

Genos Styles/OTS/Multi Pads / Re: Are Genos 2 styles bang up to date for modern tunes.

Why do retirement homes not have hip hop playing on the background music, or a video games gallery. If they did they might attract a lot more young people to stay there😏
Yamaha know the market for these instruments. As they know the market for all the instruments they sell.

I am not sure what you are calling music of today.

If it is hip hop ... I think that music is all one chord songs with just different drum patterns changing during the song.

Pop music is just repeating the same lyric line 3 or more times in a row, add one verse and repeat until you have a 3 to 4 minute vocal take.

With today's country music you can use your 26 country styles and steal parts from your Pop&Rock, R&B and Ballad styles to make styles to fit what they are calling today's country music.

All the parts are contained in the styles, you just need to move stuff around to make styles for what ever you want.  ;D
