Title: MIDI CC automation in DAW for vibrato

Dear PSR-1100-Users,

I would like to record some MIDI CC parameters from the PSR-1100 (in the Sound Creator) to Cubase 12 and re-record it later. It works very well with parameters like Attack, Harmonic, Brightness etc. but not with Vibrato Depth, Speed and Delay. As soon as I tweak one of them while in WRITE mode in Cubase, it'll create 4 automation lanes for the following MIDI parameters (in the order you see the red ones on the picture):

CC99 (NRPN MSB)
CC98 (NRPN LSB)
CC6 (DataEnt MSB)
CC38 (DataEnT LSB)

All changes I tweak on the PSR are written in the same lane: CC6 (DataEnt MSB). Is there any option to have Vibrato Depth, Speed and Delay in a separate lane like Brightness etc.? Do I have to change anything in PSR or in Cubase?

And, by the way, what does the MIDI Out driver called "Yamaha PSR-1100-2" do? I only use "Yamaha PSR-1100-1", for MIDI in and MIDI out.

If you haven't already, please download the PSR-1100 Data List from the link below. From page 32 you will find important information about the MIDI data format.

Regarding your question about the Vibrato settings, I can't help you in detail at the moment. Maybe the site "studio4all.de" (section "XG Programming") will help you. Please search the following page for the terms "vibrato" and "NPRN":

Concerning the USB-MIDI Driver: As described in the Owner's Manual (page 150), the PSR-1100 has TWO Receive Ports (Port 1 = Channels 1 - 16, Port 2 = Channels 17 - 32). When using one of the preset MIDI templates "All Parts" or "KBD & Style", the internal SONG parts are controlled via Receive Port 1 (DIN MIDI IN or USB-MIDI 1). This port is usually used as a MIDI output port in the DAW.

Receive Port 2 of the PSR-1100 is controlled via USB-MIDI 2. If desired, you can use this to control the internal Style parts, Keyboard Voice parts (Left, Right1/2) or Multi Pad parts directly from the DAW, for example.

By the way, if you are using an older USB-MIDI Driver, I recommend installing the current version 3.1.4 (64-bit or 32-bit version depending on the Windows version you are using):

In this context, note that the USB connection between the keyboard and computer must be established BEFORE installing the USB-MIDI Driver and the keyboard must be switched ON.
