Title: Change Audio Style to Regular Style
Post by: NASAMike on May 11, 2021, 09:39:25 PM
I'd like to change the drums to midi on an Audio Style and move the to my USB.

Anyone know how I can convert the style to just midi, especially in Style Creator?

I can't seem to delete the Audio Drums in Style Creator but I'll bet I'm missing something.

Thx,
NASAMike

I figured out a long hand way to do it.  Start with an empty new style and copy everything from the Audio Style over to it.  Then of course copy midi drums from other styles that would fit.

Maybe you can search for the midi versions of this styles. A lot of Tyros 5 and PSR S970 audio styles have a midi version found on Genos or SX900

If you use the Assembly function of the Style Creator and replace all the audio drum parts with midi drum parts from another style, won't work on an audio style?

Has anyone tried?

As far as I know there's no way to access the Audio Drums in the Style Creator.  That's what I was initially attempting.

Hi NASAMike,

yes, you are right here: You cannot access the Audio Drums in the Style Creator.

BUT the Audio Drums in "+Audio" Styles are in an extra Part. The "rest" of the Style is a "normal" MIDI Style. So you can start with any MIDI Style or an initialized (empty) Style and use the "Style Assembly" function to copy all Sections (of all Style Parts except Channel 9 and 10) from the Audio Style in question, and then additionally copy all Sections of Channels 9 and 10 (= Drums/Percussion) from a suitable MIDI Style.

The resulting Style is a "MIDI-only" Style then, without the Audio Drum (WAV) Part of the original Audio Style.

By the way: It works the other way around if you want to keep the audio drum part of an audio style: In this case you have to start with the relevant Audio Style, and with "Style Assembly" you can then copy certain (MIDI) Sections from other Styles to the Audio Style. Then at the end you have an audio style again (with the original Audio Drum Part).

For your further information (quote from page 30 of the S970 Reference Manual):

Quote
(PSR-S970) Limitations on the Audio part:

• If you select a preset Audio Style as starting data, the Audio part is to be used as is. The Audio part cannot be deleted, edited and created from scratch.
...
• The Audio part cannot be copied from another Style or Section in the ASSEMBLY page. If you want to use a specific Audio part, make sure to select the corresponding Audio Style before calling up the Style Creator display.

Best regards,
Chris
