Title: Styles for E463
Post by: tomhscott on November 02, 2020, 11:01:53 AM
Hi everyone
I was just wondering where I could find additional styles that were safe to download for the e463 ?
Thanks
Tommy

There are thousands of styles available on this site.
 They may not always work on your keyboard, or they may not be very good, or they may need some extensive editing. But not what Would call unsafe. By which I mean do damage to your keyboard not just simply waste your time. I suppose its possible they could contain a virus or something, but its not something I have experienced.
Where are you - I am just outside Glasgow. Welcome to the forum.
Mike

In general Yamaha styles are easy to find (you can already find plenty on the PSRTutorial website). Most styles will work pretty well on the E463 if you take into account the following rules: file must be smaller than 50KB (you can reduce the file size by leaving out certain intro/main/end sections, E463 will only use A/B parts anyway), style extension has to be .sty (rename the file if needed) and the format has to be SFF1 (there are conversion programs to convert SFF2 to SFF1). A nice place to start is the website of jorgen sorensen (for styles and for conversion software).

Hi Tommy,

here are some links to Jørgen Sørensen's website (that was already mentioned by johan). Jørgen has developed many useful software programs (Windows) for Yamaha users:

Overview of the programs:
>>> http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/software.htm

Style Format Finder:
>>> http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/sff/index.htm

Only SFF1 Styles can be used on the PSR-E463, but SFF2 (= SFF GE) Styles can be converted to SFF1 format using "Style Format 2 Converter":
>>> http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/sf2c/index.htm

So that Style files can be used on the E463, they must be smaller than 50 KB. With the "Style ReMixer" you can (among other things) delete certain Style Sections as well as delete OTS and Music Finder (MDB) in order to reduce the file size if necessary:
>>> http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/sremix/index.htm

To find Styles on Psrtutorial you could start here:
>>>https://psrtutorial.com/sty/yamaha/index.html

P.S. You can also download the Preset Styles of many Yamaha keyboard models: Just click on the name of the desired Style Category (e.g. "BALLAD") in the Style list of a particular model to download the corresponding zip file.

P.P.S. The current Style File Format "SFF2" was introduced with Tyros3 and PSR-S910. This means all original Styles of older models (up to Tyros2 and PSR-S900) are already in SFF1 format that can be used on your E463 (if the file size is less than 50 KB, as mentioned).

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
