The easiest way is to copy it to a USB stick, then transfer this to your computer. To get an MP3 file, you need to use a converter, like Audacity or Itunes.

On the SX900 you can select to record in two MP3 formats so no need to convert on computer.

Hi Eileen
On the SX900 you can select to record in two MP3 formats so no need to convert on computer.

Can you do this on the Genos?

Thanks

Nigel

Fred's right.

Genos can play back MP3 files, but it cannot create MP3 files.

That is correct.

Hi All

Thanks, that's kind of what I thought, I couldn't see anything in the menus to enable me to record as mp3, no big deal though, it's not hard to convert with an online converter or the like.

Cheers

Nigel :)

Sorry, my mistake. I have it on both my my Clavinovas and had wrongly assumed it was a standard Yamaha feature. Seems a bit odd though that they would leave it off the Genos.

And I do not think Genos can be updated to have it. But I am happy to be proved wrong!

I think it could, as it’s only software that’s required.

Then maybe we will have it in the next update? Great.
I use Audacity with Lame to do the job, Works great. But it would be even better to have the Genos do it :)

It is hard to fathom why they would have left this out of Genos after including it in previous keyboards for years. Maybe the influence of the workstation people on the design??

Mike

What previous keyboards have been able to create MP3s?

Previous keyboards could play mp3s, but not create them.

Both my Clavinovas can, and I thought they were basically the same as the T4 and T5.

It is indeed strange that the PSRs and Tyros/Genos cannot create MP3s. We wnat this in next update please Yamaha!

One slight correction Toril, you can create and save audio recordings on a PSR-SX900 as an MP3  and in three different quality formats.

Audio Quick Recording - Menu - Audio Rec Format

Future audio recordings will be saved based on the last format selected.

But I agree, the Genos, Tyros and later model PRS's should all have that option as well. I expect a good chance of that happening in a Genos update
