save your ppf file to a usb stick
plug usb into keyboard.
press function button on keyboard. select page 2. Select Expansion pack installation
navigate to PSR-SX 900_pack install data which should be in the root directory of the usb stick. It may have a purple icon
press install . Beware it will wipe out your previous expansion packs.
It will take about 20 minutes to install your new pack. Do Not switch off during this process . Hope this Helps
Geoff

Just go to your YEM select SX900. You will see your pack. Make Shure you put a tick in the pack. Take a USB stick and put it in your computer. Now on YEM select send to keyboard via USB or wireless. Select USB and the YEM will now make a PPI file to install into your keyboard. Once file is complete remove from computer and put it into keyboard. On keyboard select Install File and follow instructions on screen.

Is adding a voice adding an expansion pack?
"Just go to your YEM select SX900"  the yem is on a laptop. it does not know about sx900. that is the first problem i am tring to solve!
"navigate to PSR-SX 900_pack install data which should be in the root directory of the usb stick" same problem.
I doubt sx900 can connect via wifi.
thanks

You're trying to create a pack on Win7.     As Eileen and Geoff have mentioned, you create the pack in YEM and then move it to the PSR-SX900 either by USB key or by wireless, and then import it using the pack functions on the PSR.

You need YEM to do this, but the YEM-v2.70 won't work on Win7.    So you'll either need to create the pack on Win10, or get YEM 2.53 ~ 2.60 from somewhere.    If you're in a real bind for this, contact me off-line and I'll send you a copy of 2.60.    But I'd recommend you move to Win10 and do it there.

If you install YEM on a different computer you will need to import your ID No again so that the YEM knows what keyboard you have.

When you install YEM it will check for appropriate devices (from the ones recognized in Control Panel) and present them to you on the left side of the screen.    So in your case PSR-SX900 will come up on the left.

You have to put a USB stick into your Keyboard and then Press Menu on the keyboard and select Expansion. Now press Export Instrument Info and save to USB stick. Now put this USB into computer and bring up YEM now import this file into YEM and then on the left of the screen you will see SX900 in purple. Press this and then select the packs you want to load into keyboard.

If you have other packs you can add a single Voice to it.  First Export the single Voice as "Content". It will save as a .ppf.  You can then Import the Voice as "Content" into another pack.

so far the pack is one voice that i put in but i have learned (above) that it will displace some other stuff that came with the keyboard.
this seems an odd design just to add one voice!

got the YEM and added the sx900. wont go further till i know more about the above.
wait a minute, if i can have styles on a usb drive, surely i can have voices!
if i record a voice, what do i need to get it to a file the keyboard can play ?

thanks all

The Packs already installed are downloadable for free from the Yamaha site. You just need to load then into the YEM and then you can mix them with loading other packs. You really do need to read up on this or we will go round in circles. Sampled voices have to be loaded through YEM be it One or Fifty One.
