Title: Creating an audio Multipad
Post by: Paul B on July 27, 2020, 11:14:09 PM
I am trying to create an audio multipad to store a sound effect. I have tried and tried and I keep getting the message "audio format not supported". Grrrrr.
I found a thread here from last November that stated the format has to be:
44.1 kHz  / 16-bit / Stereo
I've tried that and a dozen other permutations but same message.
Has anyone done this and what is the magic word? I am using Audacity to try to create this file.

Hi Paul
I trust you are saving the file as a wav file; 44.1 kHz sample rate, 16 bit resolution and then following the instructions on page 54 of the reference manual.
This works fine.

Thanks for your comments but...
Yes, it is a wav file.
44.1 khz / 16 bit / stereo (tried mono first)
and I have memorized the reference manual pages.
I am trying to do this on my new SX900.
I got this wav file off the internet, could there be something in this file that is preventing this from working?

Dose the WAV file you downloaded play in the keyboard Audio player.

Thanks Eileen, but I did not try that, however, I did solve the problem.
The problem was in Audacity. I did upgrade to the latest version and when I opened my clip with the new version I discovered that the project rate was still set at 48000 hz even though I was saving it at 44100 hz. I changed the project rate to 44100 hz and saved it again and waa laa it works!
Thanks to all.
