Title: Layman Review of the free downloadable packs
Post by: anandmaloo on July 27, 2020, 08:49:06 AM
Hi,

I have till now downloaded two packs of now free collection for my Genos

1) Celtic Genos
2) Colors of Iberia

Celtic is really really nice. Haunting voices and soulful styles.  I simply loved it. Not going to uninstall it. Will be a permanent in my packs. For those who are looking for slow, ballad type styles, it is a very good option.

Colors of Iberia has some good styles of my taste. Rhumba, jive etc. Not many new voices though (a strictly personal observation based on my tastes)  So I am going to save some of those styles in my User area and uninstall the pack later.  But definitely worth a look.

I wish if we can have more reviews of the available packs so can decide to install it or not.  Given my horrifying experience of the instrument going blank during one of the pack installations, I don't want to do it unless the pack is good.

Regards

Anand

It all depends on the music you like playing. If you like the Carpenters music then the Vocal pack has some really nice styles and voices Plus Multi pads. The Church and Christmas is another nice pack with good voices and styles. If you like country then the country pack has good voices and styles plus Multi Pads. If you like organs then the Euro Organ pack is good for Klaus type songs. As they are free then try them.

Hi Eileen and Anand,
Thank you both for the information. Because music is individual's taste, all comments are helpful somehow. Very appreciated it.

I'd just like to say thank you Eileen and Anand,I took your advise and downloaded a couple of packs to try.
I found it really easy to download and install, so much so that I've now been back to the site 3 times and downloaded all of the Genos packs.  ;D ;D ;D

Hi everyone
It's just took me nearly 3 days to download these packs.
                    1. Celtic
                    2.country musician
                    3.euro & us organ
                    4.latin
                    5.vintage keyboard
                    6.vintage synth
                    7.sa2 trombone
                    8.sa2 pan flutes
                    9.female vocals

All working I would like to thank Yamaha for this,it's like having another keyboard.
My daughters 10 year old laptop with Windows 7 was so slow but was worth it.
I used 409mb for all of the above so there's a bit more room for a few more.
I'm in quarantine for 14 days as I just got back from Spain last Friday.
So I've got plenty of time to explore all these packs.
                     Bye everyone.

                           Ernie

I think the best ones I have already that I bought, such as Country Musician, Vintage K/board and Synth etc. I have not got around to putting the freebies that I downloaded into Yem yet because I want bring a new laptop into line with my Genos stuff. Some people have had difficulties  ???

Cheers Terry

Hi terry
I got them all from the Yamaha USA music soft site.
It was a long process having an old laptop with Windows 7 .
I had to keep scrolling down the pages until I found them.
The Europe site isn't up and running yet.
They have kept adding new freebies gradually.
I think there all on the site now if you have a look.

                   Hope this helps.        Ernie.
